Rocky Mountain On-Snow Demo 2008 Day 2

Today was the 2nd day of the on-snow demo’s here in Keystone, Colorado.

Last night Summit County got a wicked storm, high winds and puking snow to whiteout conditions which shut down 1-70 Highway. Today was a powder day in Keystone, definitely fresh tracks to be made and since the highway was still closed this morning…not many people on the mountain.

Conditions changed throughout the day, powder in the morning to hard packed ice in the afternoon. Snowing constantly throughout the late morning with winds. It was colder than yesterday which meant a lot of breaks to warm up. I never break out hand warmers but today was a hand warmer day on the mountain.

I rode 6 boards, 6 bindings and 2 pairs of goggles. The brands I tried today were Salomon, Capita, Union, Ride, Flow, Drake, O-matic, Flux, Bolle, and Smith.

I’ll be writing up reviews in the next couple days on the boards/bindings I rode today.

I didn’t stick around too late today since another storm was rolling in. My drive back to Steamboat took 3 hours because Rabbit Ears Pass was closed so it meant taking a detour to get home.
