Rome Snowboards 2008-2009

February 3rd, 2008

I’m a huge Rome fan. In fact looking through the stuff I own…a lot of it is Rome. I own two pairs of Rome Madisons plus numerous soft goods from Rome.

Every year at SIA…I look forward to seeing what Rome has in store, whether it’s new boards, boots, bindings or outerwear. Definitely one of my favorite companies to support.

This year Rome is adding 4 new boards to the line up: Riff (Wide version of the Mod), Minishred, lo-fi, and Jett. I was stoked to see the minishred a kid snowboard and the name…that’s what I call the kids on the hill! The two new womens models are definitely great to add to the mix. The lo-fi being a new womens true twin that can be rode in the park or in backcountry and the Jett being a entry level womens board to progress with.

I have rode the 08-09 Rome Blue and reviewed it here.

Rome Flag, Anthem and Notch

Notch this year added the 162cm to the size range and 172cm swallowtail which looks rad!

Rome Mod

Rome Slash

Rome Agent

The 1/1 sign that you see shows that each board will be one of one. Every agent out of the factory has hand-painted elements so each one will be unique, no two exactly alike. The 1/1 is also featured on bindings like the Targa’s and 390′s.

Rome Graft

Rome Solution

Rome Cheap Trick

Rome Artifact

I really like this years graphics (maybe it’s cause I’m one of few girls who likes strip clubs). The base is like a sign saying “Live Nude Girls” and the photo of the girl on the tops sheet is scratch-off.

Rome Machine, Manual, and Crail

Rome Boots

The best part about SIA is that my boot size is the sample size for most companies. This year I was stoked to see Rome using Boa in their snowboard boots. I was able to try on the Rome Vamp womens boots and found they fit me really snug, perfect in the toe and heel with no heel lift. Plus it offers the dual boa…which I definitely love in my snowboard boots. So I’ll definitely be picking those up for 08-09 to try out as my new boot next year. Still stoked on Vans…but gotta love when another company gives you good fit.

You can see the Vamp in black with the dual boa system.

Rome gloves are solid as always. I’m a huge fan of my Rome gloves, the reigns.

Awesome. Thanks for posting pics. Any close ups of the new plastic bindings or the Notch and Design?

    Thanks!

  2. Shayboarder Says:

Yep no problem! Doesn’t look like I have any close ups of the new bindings or the Notch and Design right now. Sorry!

Sweet pics ;) Being a big Rome fan, I’m really psyched to see the goods next season for sure. The neon 390s are ridiculous. Any chance of some outerwear shots, and closeups of some boots? I’ll be looking for some new gear next season, and the teasers of the jackets and pants look nice…

I’m a big Rome fan too. I have a pair of the Targas and love them. Also picked up a pair of the Rome Libertine boots. soooooo comfy. I also really enjoy readin ur blog, love the reviews of everything. keep it up!

  5. Shayboarder Says:

Thanks you guys! I didn’t get any closeup photos of the outerwear, but I have seen them on other snowboard websites like TWS, Snowboard-Mag, Future Snowboarding. Check around and I’m sure you’ll find more close-ups.

hey shay, melbatoasted from sb.com here… i had to do some clever detective work and some switching back/forth from your blog and the other site you linked with the rome 09 pics to try and figure out what the topsheet of the machine looks like for next year… but i think i’ve finally figured it out… third deck from the left, btw the graft and the artifact; any idea if that’s the 09 machine? http://content.fluofun.fr/photos/news/15420/14726.jpg (i can name every other topsheet from your site and the other site except for this one, so i’m assuming it’s the machine)

  9. Shayboarder Says:

Awesome detective work Melba! That is the Machine in that photo, 3rd board from the left.

  10. justin Says:

Jeff, the 3rd board in from the left side is the machine. It’s a white deck with circles. That’s whats up!

  11. g.dub.me Says:

This is awesome ! would u happen to know which Graft is the 149? i mean like the colour on the side wall.

  12. Shayboarder Says:

The 149 Graft has a orange base color and orange sidewall.

Just a heads up, more Rome snowboard stuff will be coming up soon on the blog.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Yeah! Thanks for the postings, you rule.

  14. quickrelease Says:

great posts!wath about the specs of mod and agent models?

    thank you!

  15. Shayboarder Says:

Posted up one of the board spec pages for you, it has the Mod and Agent specs on it.

  16. Shayboarder Says:

Currently all the catalog pages are down as requested by Rome.

  17. quickrelease Says:

    buuuuuuuuuuuuu!
thank you the same shayboarder…they probably have something really secret in their catalogue…

  18. Tobey Says:

Is the Artifact just as flexy as it was last year?
What are the sizes for it?
    When is it coming out?

  19. Shayboarder Says:

from what I can tell…nothing has changed in the Artifact since last year. The sizes are: 147, 150, 153, 156, 159. 09 Snowboards come out in late summer/early fall.

    Shay:
Do you have any info on the Notch 1985 reverse camber board? Other than what’s on the website. Is it a late release board? I want to pick one up for a powder stick this year but so far I can’t find them anywhere.
    Thanks in advance.

  21. Shayboarder Says:

Hey Anonymous…I asked Ron at Rome about the Notch for this year to help you out.

Here’s his reply, “The Notch 1985 is a bit of a late release, and a bit of a limited release, so there’s not going to be a ton of them. I know for a fact that backcountry.com has ordered some of them, but that’s all I’m sure of.”
