Riding Journal

Breckenridge 11/22/08

I woke up early on Saturday morning to pack my gear up and head to Breckenridge for the weekend.  I carpooled down with my friend Andrew who runs his own skier blog from Steamboat to enjoy the weekend’s shredfest.
I had talked to TJ Schneider about meeting up when he came to Colorado for his visit this week.  TJ is an incredible professional rider who does Snowboard Realms which is worth checking out if you haven’t yet.  Saturday was his last day of riding so it worked out that we could meet up and make turns for the day.  I have spoken with TJ multiple times in the past year and met him in August while visiting Capita.  We joke about our marriage proposition…but really it has to do with shred time.

We met up at the base of the Breck gondola to start the adventure.  We had a pretty big crew for the day, on my side I had told Zac from Hybrid Sessions to come up plus Andrew, and K.  With TJ was Pat, Dave, Dorf, Lee, Adam, Lee, Knut, and Ryan.   We filled up 3 chairs of people but managed to stay together most of the day.

The mountain conditions were fun, sunny bluebird day lapping the groomers and hitting the park at the bottom.  I stayed out of the park (it’s not my thing) and had a fun day just cruising with everyone.

Breckenridge offered up a couple runs and chairlifts to choose from.  We found a nice run below the Colorado Superchair that offered up fun rollers.

One roller in particular offered up some good air time for the boys.  We’d make our way down to it, then Lee and I would make sure the landing zone was clear and I’d catch it on camera.

Dave Graves, C3’s Colorado Rep came out to enjoy his horrorscope

Throughout the day TJ found he could gap two features in the park and make it look so good.
Later on he jumped it and someone was hiking up below, so he leapt over the person and still landed it smoothly.

Some funny shots came out of the woodwork of TJ and I.

TJ called it a day and had to take off, so we got this shot of the three of us at the bottom.

I kept making laps with Zac and met up with other friends before heading onto Mi Casa for a good Happy Hour.
It was a great day of shredding, meeting everyone from the crew and just lapping it up all day.
I took quite a bit of photos from the day so if you want to see more check out my flickr account.

hey if the Banff Mountain Film Festival comes anywhere near where you live you need to go see it! It’s not all snow porn but it is all amazing!

Damn Shay, I am jealous! TJ is for sure one of my favorite riders. It must have been absolutely awesome. Maybe if he takes a trip to Quebec or Whister (which he will), I’ll get my chance to meet him through snowboard realms. I’m glad to see him repping Airblaster outerwear after leaving sessions. Its weird that he’s still rocking Oakleys after they cut him. I’m counting down the weeks until I get to shred. Keep up the great bloggin!
