MTNOPS ANNOUNCES TAILGATE ALASKA 2009

Finally the announcement for this year’s mtnops tailgate Alaska! Last summer I checked out the event, the blogs, the video and it looked like a great time with some rad people. Here’s your chance to go to Alaska and partake in the fun adventure!

MTNOPS is proud to announce it’s premier Tailgate event, Tailgate Alaska 2009. Held in Valdez, Alaska, this one-of-a-kind nonevent offers participants the opportunity to truly experience Alaskan backcountry riding.

Managed by legendary Alaska rider Nick Perata, Tailgate Alaska 2009 will host pro riders, backcountry experts, industry insiders, and Valdez locals. Attendees will have the opportunity to ride with some of the most experienced backcountry riders in Alaska.

Tailgate Alaska 2009 is an all-inclusive experience. Transportation, lodging, meals, and backcountry training will all be taken care of by MTNOPS staff. Lodging for Tailgate Alaska 2009 will be at the Mountain Sky Hotel in downtown Valdez.

According to Nick:

As host of Tailgate Alaska ’09’ I would like to welcome you to some of the best snowboarding on the planet. Come ride with me and the top pros of today in a place where legends are made.

You will ride every kind of terrain there is, chutes, bowls, tight couloirs, natural halfpipes and open pow fields.

But on such a grand scale that with each run comes an even greater felling of accomplishment, awe, and achievement. The unknown truth about Alaska is that 60% of the terrain is intermediate and you don’t have to be a backcountry expert to enjoy these mountains. Even the beginner will have the time of their life. This is the place to come to improve your big mountain skills and experience the best riding of your life with your best bros, snowboard heros, and all the local legends.

You have always wanted to ride Alaska, so come ride it with me and my bros.

There are two sessions available and open to the public for Tailgate Alaska 2009.

Session One will be from March 27-April 4 and includes, up to five days of flying (6 -8 runs per day).
Deluxe accommodations (wifi and indoor pool), transportation to and from the pass and other
recreational activities and three meals are provided. Lodging is 2 per room, 4 per car.

Session Two will be from April 5 – 12 and is the bare bones package. – just fine accommodations (wifi and indoor pool), transportation and three meals a day. Bring a splitboard, and some gas
money for the sleds and you will get there. We will also run some snowmobile shuttles to more low angle areas to build kickers and experiment with natural terrain. Heli riding will be available at an additional cost.

Each session is limited, so reserve your spot now!
