Shay Update

It’s been months since the last update and some great changes in store for me and the blog.  Despite it being summer for me, the blog keeps me very busy and this year especially with the recent changes.

If you were absent this weekend, you’ll notice shayboarder.com has switched to the new site.  I owe a huge thanks to my friend Mike who has helped with all the coding and getting this wordpress blog to look like a shayboarder site with easy navigation and a clean shayboarder look.  My friend Steve got a brand new gyrator this year and I got my graphic design artist to design the header and anything else I want in the future.  Both of them helped tremendously in making the site look the way it is.  My job is still a work  in progress, I am going through each post and making them match the style and setup of this site, uploading photos to the new server and changing them out in each post and answering comments that have been missed.  Basically I’m going through 913 + posts to make sure it fits on this site and looks good.  Luckily It’s summer and I have time to do this.

New additions to the site is the ask shay section to ask questions and get answers.  I’ve put up some questions from this year and will continue to add to it.  The photo gallery has some in place already and as I update posts you’ll start to notice more galleries coming in.

Industry Profiles started in June and each Tuesday & Thursday you can come to the blog to read the latest interview with someone in the industry.  I’m really happy with the people involved, the stories told and the experience/opinions that people are sharing.  The interviews will continue on into the early Fall and plenty of time to catch up on them.

Upcoming Trips

Woodward at Copper is the place to be in Colorado this summer and I’m hoping to make it down there very soon to check it out and write about some cool happenings going on there.

I am allowed to ride starting July 1st and that’s the date I have set for myself as being able to hit the snow.  As soon as July hits, I’ll be making my way back to the snow and in Colorado that means a couple locations where I can make turns with friends.  I’m looking forward to riding St.  Mary’s Glacier and Breck’s 4th of July bowl again.

In August I’ll be making my way out to Mt Hood to end the season with Windell’s Session 7 where I am totally stoked to be on snow and get to progress my freestyle riding as an adult camper.  I’ll be staying in the Portland/Seattle area for a couple days after camp, to get some riding time with friends and hopefully visit some snowboard companies when I’m in town.

For those that liked the Denver Giveaway idea, I’m working to make that a possibility while I’m in Portland.  So keep your ears peeled and if I get it dialed in, I will let you know so you can come find me to win another snowboard.

Hey, props on the the new site; I like it a lot. I’m glad to see you kept the original header photo. It’s a classic!

Adrian, damn straight! I’m thinking very soon to head down and capture it up. Screw the doctors orders, I can shred safely. Tell Gracie I’m stealing her next time I’m in Denver, I’ve always wanted a pillow bulldog.

Latebloomer, awesome to hear! The header photo is a favorite and really captured the name. Funny thing is when that photo was taken I had no idea, I gave my camera to a friend and she was trying to get a powder shot of me and ended up taking a shot of me half hidden by the tree and waiting to ride down, the contrast and bright jacket I just love it. To me it really shows the world through my eyes, just waiting to ride and taking in all the beauty.

No worries Justin, I always find spelling errors from typing especially when I’m in a hurry.

Nice on the move to Portland. I’ll be there August 5-14th, at Windells from the 5th to 11th and then in Gresham, the 11th, 12th and Seattle the 13th and Portland the 14th before I fly out. As we get sooner to it, lets exchange numbers and plan something out. I’m still working on details but I know I’ll be doing fun blog stuff when I’m there.
