Portland Twitter Giveaway Completed!
12 Aug, 2009
Today was the second twitter giveaway based in Portland, Oregon and the chance to win a 09-10 Lib Tech Skate Banana after 4pm when I started to give out clues to my location in Portland.
I spent most of the day in Portland visiting Bonfire/Salomon, Yobeat and Holden. All three of those office tours will be blogged about later this week. During the day I also scouted possible locations to have the giveaway at and luckily no one followed me around all day.
First huge thanks to Mervin Manufacturing for being part of the Giveaway and offering up a 09-10 Lib Tech Skate Banana!
I started tweeting out clues at 4pm (PST) right when I figured people could get off work but also hit traffic which made it tougher. The clues were:
1. I’m west of I-5 and North of I-405.
2. I’m near a street that was the name of a President.
3. Political science is all around me.
4. I’m near a place where if I got arrested I would go to.
5. I’m at Terry Shrunk and still not found.
When I tweeted out the first and second tweets, I was sitting inside a Starbucks across the street from the location I would end up at. After the second tweet, I grabbed the snowboard from the car and sat in the Terry Shrunk Park right in the center of all the political science buildings around, police station, courthouse, and right next to Jefferson Street. I was visible from the road the entire time.
In the end after an hour and a half, I was found and within a couple minutes from the last twitter I put out. Preston aka Shaka was the person to find me and he’s a sierrasnowboard member as well. He owned a Skate Banana but this winter it fell off the back of his truck after snowboarding, so needless to say he was stoked on winning the board!
A couple minutes after him, Devun arrived to claim the board but barely missed it and received a high 5 instead. I’ll make sure Devun gets a goodie box once he emails me his address.
It was a great time and stoked from the Portland people who tried to find me and the board! I talked with two companies about being part of more giveaways, so definitely something I hope to continue in the future in other cities I travel to!
