I still have yet to set up a riding specific playlist. and my library could be called eclectic at best. but i do have to say a song will pop on that i normally wouldn't think to put on a riding playlist, but i just goes so smoothly.

i never would have thought classical would go well, but riding backcountry, just make sit seem that much more epic... crooners on the flats... love it, belting out bobby darin so all the skiers hear me and can clear a path so i don't get stuck... dragonforce for when you need that puch to try dropping somewhere you normally wouldn't.

music is key, but my problem is losing it. if i lost my music, i don't know what i'd do... and i'm prone to lose things.

Riding tunes are not the same as car tunes, or serious listening tunes for me. Not everything is on itunes, sadly, some is out of print. Most of it is either big beats or just uplifting in a pretty kind of way.

Leftfield-Swords, Africa Shox
(works for surfing too)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j--Gs6gLRk

Prodigy-Diesel Power, and most of Fat of the Land
Bowery Electric-Empty Words, Freedom Fighter, Shook Ones
Chemical Brothers: Block Rockin Beats, Let Forever Be
Crystal Method-Trip Like I do, Busy Child, High Roller, Keep Hope Alive
Massive Attack-I Against I (w Mos Def), Future Proof
Bomb the Bass-Black River (w Mark Lanegan)
Mark Lanegan w SoulSavers- Revival
The Cult-She Sells Sanctuary
Dalek-Ever Somber
Outkast-Hey Ya
Teddybears-Punkrocker
MGMT-Kids
M83-Teen Angst, We Own the Sky, Moonchild, Run into Flowers
Billy Idol-Dancing with Myself
Aphex Twin-The Waxen Pith
Arcwelder-And then Again
Main-Spectra Decay
The Melvins-Safety Third
My Bloody Valentine-Soon
Music for a Found Harmonium-Penguin Cafe Orchestra (end of Napoleon Dynamite)
Plastikman-Konception, Outbak
Police-Everything She does is Magic, De Do Do Do
Primal Scream-Higher than the Sun
Project Pale-Driving these Icy Roads
Prong-Snap your Fingers
Public Enemy-Lost at Birth, Bring Tha Noize, She Watch Channel Zero
Slayer-Angel of Death
Rhythm of Snow-Getting closer to an Unknown Goal
Ride-Leave Them All Behind
Spiritualized-Run
Swans- Blood Section

Guess that's it for now

I have an huge playlist for shredding and tons of varieties of music in them, but here are some great bands for gettin down that haven't already been mentioned.

Matt & Kim, Au Revoir Simone, The Rural Alberta Advantage, MSTRKRFT, Soulwax, Animal Collective, Junior Boys, Flying Lotus, No Age, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, Friendly Fires, Iron Maiden (yeah, I said it), and k-os.

There are a lot more where that came from, but I decided to keep it limited. Oh, and good call on Miike Snow, that album is gooood (but the interweb remixes of a lot of those songs are better).

The Rome Thompson jacket has the best ipod control by far- I used it all last season and it is so easy to use- just a small toggle switch on the forearm that you can press down to pause when you hit the lift line and simple up and down for volume and left and right for next song. It is so great!

PatMill and SoGnar have a good FREE mixtape for some new music to shred to.
