Copper Mountain had opened up on Friday and since I’m a season passholder it made perfect sense to spend Sunday at Copper. I carpooled with Lauren to Copper and met up with Chris from Snowboarderguide to shred for the day before I carpooled back with him to Steamboat.
Today’s demo was Capita and Union with the surprise company of Laura Hadar, Capita’s first female pro rider on the team who was around the tent and enjoying riding. I’ve met Laura once before at SIA and it was cool to catch up with her again, she started her own blog for a glimpse into hadeslife.
I ended up demoing only one board today, took out the Capita Horrorscope with Union Forces to see how it did in the park and freeriding for this year. Didn’t ride differently than last time I rode it, but I’ll still put up a review on it again.
It was another warm bluebird day on the mountain so conditions were hardpacked at Copper. The park setup was pretty enjoyable and I found a couple features that I could hit no problem which made the day even more fun! My personal favorite is 50/50 to tail tap on the box but I also tried to ride out the entire corrugated rainbow tube.
Copper had one jump feature in the park and it was just neglected. Just an example of if you build it early season, built it right or don’t build it.

Here’s an animated sequence of the shots I took of Lauren today
Towards the end of the day while standing in the lift line, I encountered the best liftie I have seen for performance value. This liftie got the front row stoked enough to do the wave and then as a reward did multiple backflips down the line.
Yesterday at Loveland I had met up with Madeleine and Larry on their way off the mountain but today they were back on snow at Copper to try demos so we were able to take last run together.

We ended the day soon after and headed back to Steamboat. Looking forward to riding Copper again and definitely hitting up more of the open mountains in Colorado.
