The Olympic Trials have come to Steamboat Springs and while it wasn’t for snowboarding, but nordic combined, aerials and moguls…I found myself on the mountain to check out the conditions, events and do some work that involved checking them out.
All of the events are on television and I even found myself watching the big screen to get the close up action of the mogul course. The aerials were practicing while moguls were going on and I found myself watching some insane aerial jumps and crashes instead of the moguls…but it was another day to be out and I was glad I was.

On the way down to the base area, I was able to check out the new Lil’ Rodeo mini pipe which was packed with people taking their first pipe turns. I definitely hope the new placement of the mini pipe will keep people out of the superpipe that need the basic pipe to learn on first.
Now it’s off to Silverton!
