Northwave Boots 2010-2011

Northwave is no stranger to snowboarding; they’re boots have been on many snowboarders feet over the years and they continue to reign in as a snowboard boot company that’s been in business since 1991.  Now they own Drake and Bakoda but their knowledge continues to expand in snowboard boots that enhance your riding experience.

For 10-11 Northwave is introducing their T-track lacing system which is now featured on the men’s T-track boot and caliber boot and women’s caliber boot.  The T-track system allows for a simple and immediate way to open and close the boot.  They also have the Super lace SL system which is a speed entry system that allows the closure of two different boot areas allowing the perfection of your own taste in the boot tightness.  Other new boot technologies are the ultralight sole which makes their outsole 50% lighter compared to a traditional snowboard outsole, their 540 heel system helps transit a stronger power of closure in the upper part of the foot and ankle, giving less heel lift in the boot and their new carbon fork in the rear of the boot that increases the stiffness without compromising the comfort or mobility of the whole boot.

I’m so happy with Northwave Decade SL (08/09)! Super comfy (all day in – no trouble, no pressure points) and well made.
Got only one issue with lace – it was broken due to friction of metal parts (rollers). But guys from customer service sent me a set of new laces ASAP. Yay!

Going to check new T-track system on Caliber (btw, Shay, you typed it above picture as Caliper..=)), wanna have some flex (what flex rating it has?) and T-track speed lace sounds modern (hope it’ll be durablre as all Northwave products, or.. easy repairable.;)

Ghostovan, I’ve been wanting to check out the northwave boots myself to see how they fit. Good to hear your experience with them. Thanks for the spell mix, sometimes I am staring at the name and type it wrong.

Roma, Awesome you love your boots. Bummer no shops in Whistler carry them, I’d call up Northwave to see what shop has them that’s closest to you or find them online.

I rode T-track last season and I am extremely disappointed! I am an advanced backcountry rider and usually ride steep and technical couloirs. The speed lace is fast indeed but is totally UNsecure! It releases open in the most unapropriate moments! Imagine a 50° slope and an loose booth. It’s not nice! The second thing is that the new Northwave soles are not made from rubber but from a kind of foam which is very friable and literary the soles of the boots just disintegrated! I do use crampons often and that may be the reason but my friend’s boots (who uses crampons the same amount of time) are absolutely intact. I won’t tell you the brand of the boots but the soles are from Vibram®.
I returned the boots to my local dealer but he didn’t give me any money back. He said that he’ll make a big discount for my next Northwave boots bought from him. My hands are tied and I have to buy again Northwave. Will you please advice me which model should I buy? I am looking in this new Domain but I find the soles absolutery the same as of T-Track…
