Review: Pom Pom Neck Tube

Intended Purpose: Designed to help cover up on the cold days and keep your neck & face warm with a moisture wicking fashionable neck tube.

Appearance: I have a crazy black and white geometric design on my neck tube which I like since it’s very simple.   I’m not one for the girly flower options so this neck tube so I like the design but there’s a variety of design options for those with different tastes.  Despite the neck tube looking good, it’s as functional as it looks so it wins me over.

Best Used for: I’ve found the neck tube really good for the cold days on the slopes to help protect your face against wind and colder temperatures.  It’s been the only bandana option in my collection that doesn’t get wet, cold and freeze.  It’s held up on some really cold days this winter and as many times as I use it to dry a runny nose, it stays dry and keeps protecting me.  I pretty much use it on cold or windy days, the warmer days it’s a bit too warm of material for.

Fit: I can tuck under my goggles to completely block out the wind and cold or just pull up when I need it on the mountain.  It fits snug around my neck but it’s not noticeable when I’m riding because of the material.  It’s really easy to pull up over the face and pull off the face when you don’t need it anymore.  I’ve worn the necktube with my beanie and helmet, I’ve noticed the strap on the helmet I just need to tuck under the necktube so it doesn’t interfere with it.  What I like most about it is since there’s no velcro or closure, it doesn’t come loose when riding and you don’t need to fix it during a long day on the slopes.

Durability: Surprisingly the only noticeable wear on the necktube so far is the pom pom tag which shows the not-s0-white coloring.  The stitching on the neck tube is intact and the material has no flaws in it.  It’s been used probably over 30 days this season, still in good condition.  The only noticeable thing is that the folds and lines sometimes shift making the top of it hard to adjust right.  But that’s barely an issue and I only notice it because of where the tag sits on the necktube.  I’ve watched the necktube a couple times in cold water and it still keeps the material in good shape and comfortable on the mountain.

Thoughts: I received the necktube in the beginning of the season and usually I’ll try something and then pass it onto someone else but this necktube completely won me over with the material and the comfort it offered.  I stayed warm on the cold windy days that this winter offered and it never froze up on me.  It handled all the temperatures and no matter how much I breathed into it, it stayed dry and the moisture wicking actually worked.   I really liked that it never came loose on the mountain or needed to be fixed and could easily be pulled up and off my face while riding.

The only issues  I have had with the necktube is when it’s over your mouth and your breathing heavy I would need to pull it down so I didn’t feel catastrophic in it like I couldn’t breathe.  Just normal days it felt fine and never got that feeling, only when I was breathing heavy with it covering my mouth.

Todd, it’s not just for the ladies but you might find the print ladies specific. The black/white one I have could be for guys. I definitely love mine, I’ll see what pom pom says about the prints like mine.
