Shay Update: Washington & Whistler
16 Apr, 2010
It’s April which means it’s time to head back to Washington & Whistler! I try to hit up Whistler at least once every year for my favorite time of year, the Telus Festival when snowboarding meets music meets canadian beer. This year the Grenade Games are doing their 6th year and 2nd year in Whistler which means quite the possibilities for trouble in the mountains.
I’m flying back home to Seattle to take in a couple days with family & friends before I head up to Whistler to end the remainder of my trip snowboarding and enjoying all the events going on in Whistler next week for Telus Festival.
This trip gives me a couple new blog opportunities that I have in the works, I’ll be making stops and high 5′ing along the drive to Whistler. The best part is I’ll be able to demo a brand of snowboard that everyone wants to know about plus do more on-snow demos on the demo day that goes on. For the most part, I’ll be enjoying it all and stoked to come back this year.
Washington
Most of my Seattle time will be visiting family & friends but it’ll also be a relaxing trip for me since I have more time off during my travels. I’ll be heading up to Stevens Pass for their closing day this sunday April 18th to ride with good friends and watch the end of season festivities go on. Then I’ll be in Seattle for the Twitter Giveaway going on Monday April 19th…whoever finds me first from twitter clues will win a 09-10 Signal Omni snowboard. You can find all the details here.

Whistler Telus Festival
Next week I’ll start the journey up to Whistler where I’ll get to check out the pro photographer showdown on Thursday night, hang out with friends that I only see once a year and ride during the day on Whistler or Blackcomb. I’m lucky to have free lift tickets and a free couch to crash on, so my Whistler trip will be all about fun! There will be a ton of events going on so I’m excited about seeing them all.

Grenade Games 6
The Grenade Games start the day I arrive so I’ll be making my way to the mountain to watch the mogul slalom action, halfpipe and finale competitions. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone compete and seeing familiar faces at the events.

Finally I make my way back to Colorado where for the first time in 4 years some changes are in store for myself. I’ll have more to announce once I get home from this trip. Until then, it’s time to travel for the next 10 days…please be patient with me replying to comments and emails.
