Timberline & Windells Camp 7/1/10

Timberline is still in prime condition for riding and the magic mile chairlift is still rideable to the bottom which is awesome!  For those not familiar with Timberline, there are private camps but it’s also open to the public in the summer so anyone can shred year round.   Everyday I get to tag along with different coaches and have a fun filled day on the slopes, today I tagged along with Moss Halladay’s group for some early morning turns down the magic mile.

Lunch time at camp comes quickly everyday.  We pack lunches at breakfast and by the time we get up to the camp, you usually get to eating your lunch.

In Moss’s group, I found N’Kala who was working on progressing her park riding on the flat down box that was set up in the mini feature area of the park.  She became the Windells Camper of the Day for Thursday.

The flat down box got a lot of action so I caught some of it on camera to show off.  Here’s Johnny Tsunami eating it off the box.

The US snowboard team is using the Windells private pipe early in the morning to get their bag jump tricks and then take them to snow.  I saw Pete from Unity in the lift line earlier in the morning and was stoked to see him at the pipe with Unity rider JJ Thomas.

Today was supposed to be the Sammy Carlson Invitational with the huge 100 foot jump but weather didn’t exactly agree and the window of opportunity was limited for visibility.  There was a lot of waiting around and hanging out to see if the contest would go on.

Of course it was also Canada Day which we definitely celebrated later on in the evening but there were kids on the mountain with Canadian style.

I’ve been enjoying the shredding but also looking forward to a long 4th of July weekend in Seattle where I’ll get to see family and have some time off from snowboarding and camp life for a couple days.  Chances are I will not be updating the blog this weekend since I’ll be spending time with family that I haven’t seen in years so after the long weekend…expect the daily updates again!
