Mammoth 11/19/10

19 Nov, 2010

The storm is coming!  On the way to work this morning, the winds were howling a little and the cold brisk air was the sign of winter weather coming soon.  We’re supposed to get a storm that delivers feet of snow…not inches but feet.  So crossing the fingers, snowdancing a little and praying to ullr that we get some fresh snow to open up more of the mountain.

Today was a quick day on the slopes, just a couple laps with Dan to get outside and check out conditions.  It was very hardpacked and icy on the slopes but the runs were to yourself.  We just lapped chair #1 and shot into the trees to stay out of the windy spots.

I don’t think camber is dead.  Here’s why, today I took out the Arbor Eden a camber all mountain board from arbor to give it a try and review it.  Despite the conditions which were icy in spots and definitely the scratching sound, having camber under my feet felt really good to get back on.  It was like being home with mom’s meals, you know it’s good and it’s gonna be stable no matter what the snow is like.  I felt fine on the board in the sketchy spots and still had fun just making turns down the slopes.  In my opinion, there’s room for camber.  Would I ride it all the time, probably not…but I definitely enjoyed being back on it.  I’ll definitely get the eden out in some better conditions before the review goes up.

Tomorrow’s a day off which means hitting the slopes and getting to watch the Premature Jibulation!  Hopefully it’s dumping tomorrow.
