The SIA Tradeshow is underway in Denver, Colorado and day 2 was packed with more appointments to see what’s coming out for 2012. I’ve been able to see everything from snowboards to outerwear to gloves to goggles, just getting an idea of what is to come next year. It’s also overwhelming with the amount of information you receive so looking forward to winding down with all the catalogs to really dive in deep. I’m tweeting from the show so make sure you follow me on twitter.com/shayboarder for the latest updates from SIA.
Weekend snowboards and Bond outerwear were a breathe of fresh air. The boards have a variety of options from traditional camber to flapjack (flat) to reverse camber to smorgasbord (reverse flat reverse).
I’ve owned Helly Hansen at some time or another in my outerwear and wanted to check out what they were offering for looks this year. Here’s one of their men’s jackets coming out with a fade plaid design.
Oakley goggles keeping their signature series
Bataleon’s TBT is always popular. They did the evil twin and evil twin artist series that you can see here (that stands out from the crowd) pretty good.
Sandbox helmets out for show at the tradeshow.
Salomon and Bonfire put in a mini ramp to their SIA booth that was kept busy with talent and fun to watch during downtime. When I walked by, Nick Visconti was out skating and all eyes on him.
The very popular Salomonder. Can’t wait to try it!
A glimpse at the fabrics coming out from Bonfire in 2012
I really liked this jacket from Nitro Snowboarding
Monument Snowboards showing off the memento mori snowboard
I’d have to say Holden is looking their best for 2012 but they also are doing a collab with Vans this year featuring a Holden boot and shoe. They’re also doing a collab with Union, Union/Holden binding.
My favorite Holden jacket from the showing
Stopped by Stepchild Snowboards and got to see the new line.
Atomic snowboarding’s poacher splitboard
The day ended with K2 Snowboarding who I think has the best overall line. Really looking forward to riding some of the new developments at the on-snow.
SIA for me has always been an incredible experience because of the people you meet. I’ve met many of my idols in snowboarding at SIA and am always amazed that they know shayboarder.com. Last year I met Jeremy Jones for the first time and was able to get an autographed poster from him while catching up. While standing around the Jones/YES booth met Mike Basich in person and caught up with TGR Founders Steve and Todd Jones. It’s incredible to have these opportunities.
DCP handing out YES shirts and filling in the missing word on them
The evening started with dinner with the guys from New Era and Bnqt before heading to the Riders Poll. We missed the awards but I heard Jess Kimura won and I was sooo happy for her and Capita. The VIP section (thanks Adam Hawes!) at the Riders Poll was a blast and made sure not to forget my goodie bag this year. Ended up at the Nike party for the evening and kept the party going into the morning. Of course some stories are not told on this blog!
Also stay tuned, I’m going to be doing some rad giveaways soon!
