West Coast Invitational Sneak Peak!

29 Apr, 2011

I have to say it.  Next weekend, Mammoth will be the place to be.  It’s already in a list of last resorts to be operating through the spring/summer but it’s also going to be hosting the West Coast Invitational for the 10th year from May 6-8.  The evening rail jam will go on in The Village at Mammoth on Saturday night but before that begins they’ll be a qualifier for selected riders to prove their skills before making it to the evening’s event.  I’m excited to finally attend the event and experience it.

The action sports team at Mammoth is stoked on the layout for this year’s WCI and handed me this awesome rendering that will give an idea of what to expect next weekend.  The right side features two planter style jibs (maybe even some fresh flowers to destroy) and the left side features a down rail and a metal road barrier (like you see on the highway).  There are two other features that aren’t shown that will be another choice for riders to hit.

Here’s all the details on WCI!  Hope you can make it!

The West Coast Invitational (WCI) is back for its tenth year with an all-star lineup of invited pro snowboarders and talented up-and-comers! On Friday, May 6, watch the riders battle it out on a course full of crazy wall ride features at the Eddie Wall Ride.  On Saturday, May 7 head into The Village for the evening Rail Jam where they’ll take on a three-story high jib set-up for a shot at the huge cash purse!  Afterwards, hop on the Village Gondola and head to Canyon Lodge where Mammoth Concert Series presents Blessed Le Strange.  Don’t miss the sounds of their hypnotizing voodoo rock and roll tunes. Enjoy non-stop spring skiing, riding and partying throughout the weekend!
