Facemask Friday: Airhole

When it comes to keeping your face warm on the mountain, facemasks do the job.  On the deep powder days, they keep you from breathing in the snow.  On the sunny days, they keep you from getting burnt.  On windy days, they keep your face from going numb.  Gone are the days that you have to wear a basic black mask and look like a bank robber, now plenty of companies offer bandanas, tubes, balaclava’s in an assortment of designs and colors.

Check back every Friday I’ll be giving away a facemask in a different brand/design/style.  To enter the contest, read the directions below and leave your comment by midnight tonight.  I’ll announce the winner in this post tomorrow morning.

This Airhole Facemask (seen on right) features Airhole’s signature design that eliminates condensation on the inside of your facemask and fogging of your goggles. The one large airhole at your mouth opening makes inhaling and exhaling easy as if you weren’t wearing a mask at all.  The airhole also acts as a hydration point, allowing you to drink through camel packs or water bottles.

Steps to win the Airhole Facemask:

1.  Answer this question in your comment (make sure to use your correct email address):   What product/brand are you most excited on for next winter?

2.  You have till midnight tonight, July 29th to enter for this facemask.

3.  All the correct answer comments will be written down and one winner will be randomly drawn from a bowl or kitchen pot ( you know like the lottery).

4.  A winner will be announced in this blog post after midnight.  I like to sleep so I will probably will pick a winner tomorrow morning.

Thanks to Airhole for being part of Facemask Friday!

I’m stoked on AIRHOLE! Of course! I’d never heard of this company until today, and after checking out their stuff, I’ve GOT to get my hands on one! These seem amazing! Thank you for giving someone (hopefully me) 😉 the opportunity to try them out.

What product/brand are you most excited on for next winter?
Silly me, I guess I’d be most excited about using this facemask, if I win it. Currently I use a generic neck warmer that I just pull up and over my nose and mouth which can get super gross and wet cause there is no air hole! I wasn’t too wowed by the look of next years NS’s SL. That being said I think it was my most liked design for the SL so far. I also really like Union Bindings but since i just got new ones last season, I’m not letting myself look at next season’s bindings (they were so expensive).
Aside from THAT, I’m only looking for new snowpants but nothing’s caught my eye yet.

    Also, thanks for your blog!
It has helped me find and research gear for the last two years.

Well, the real truth is, whether any of want to admit it or not, brand has almost nothing to do with it, really. From just a sheer riding point of view, it’s whatever you happen to be using when you’re having the absolute most fun you’ve ever had on a snowboard & whatever the equipment happens to be at that moment, & that can vary from time to time with conditions, the terrain, & most of all what you have access to of course. Sure, we all have preferences & “styles” that work best for us, but the truth is, there are many, many brands that will make whatever equipment “works” best for you, it’s just whatever you happen to buy &/or wind up with. So the answer is, truly, whatever brand(s) my equipment happens to be when I’m riding & enjoying myself more than I ever have before, word! : )

I’m excited to ride more days on my ’10 Rome Anthem. Only got out on it for 2 days (powder in April!) at the end of the season and it felt solid. Can’t wait to put it to the test and see how it handles the lovely east coast hardpack.
