Shay Update: Opening Day + Family Weekend

A couple years ago, I would have chosen snowboarding over my family. I was younger and needed the freedom to be away, make my own decisions and follow my own path. As I’ve grown older and experienced the freedom, it has pushed me closer to my family and was part of the reason I was ready to move to California. Now within a couple hours of driving I can spend the holidays with them or just a weekend every now and then.

A couple months ago I was told that my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary would be a family gathering and I needed to be there. The downside was their anniversary fell on Mammoth’s Opening Weekend. Instead of the weekend snowboarding, partying and working – I’ll be spending it with both sets of parents, grandparents, sibling, cousins and more. I’m making sure to shred along the way to Northern California but I’m looking forward to being there for an important event.

I will be in Mammoth for Opening Day today to document the experience, update Mammoth social media and do my normal job of copywriting throughout the day. If you are on the mountain, say hi and give me a high-five!  After the lifts stop turning, I’ll get a post up for the day and then I’ll be making my way to Tahoe for the evening and riding Boreal tomorrow on the way to Northern California. It’s a good morning session of riding before I hit the road north and head up to stay with my family for the weekend. Then on Sunday, I’ll be driving home to Mammoth (hopefully without any storms along the way) so I can be back at work on Monday.

Not snow related but what kind of copywriting do you do?

Joe, I write a majority of the copy for Mammoth. Emails, ads, posters, some social media, etc. A whole lot of writing 🙂
