NOW Bindings 2012-2013

It’s not every year that a pro snowboarder comes to SIA to deliver up a new design, new brand and new ideas to snowboarding. For 2013, JF Pelchat is doing just that with his latest creation, NOW bindings.

The design takes inspiration from skateboard trucks and delivers connection back into snowboard bindings for the ultimate in mountain performance. With Nidecker handling the production, JF at the helm of the company and a great team including Devun Walsh and Jeremy Jones, there are only good things in the making for NOW bindings.

NOW Bindings for 2013 has one binding model, the IPO that comes in two sizes (medium and large) in two colors (black and white).

The NOW Binding technology features a hanger that transfers energy from the straps directly to the bushings and onto the board. The kingpin acts as a fulcrum, magnifying this energy through leverage. The asym highback is pre-rotated 5 degrees laterally with a higher medial side that follows leg angle, wider lateral side that provides support. The flex hinge highback has a progressive flex to lock-out, dampens chatter and eliminates calf-bite and follows any boot contour/shape. The flushcup is a stacked highback/heelcup design that creates a flush, inner surface. The bushings on the binding are dual injection, quick snap connection and available in 3 durometers for flex adjustment. The footpillow basepless hanger design allows for a full 15mm of EVA underfoot and with a easy tool-free access to mounting disc/hardware.

i’ve been riding a pair of ’07 nidecker carbon 900’s and they have been flawless other than being a bit heavy. this looks like a great design, are any other binding manufacturers producing a similar bushing concept?

Looks interesting… they won the ISPO award in Europe this year…
Innovation always good… I will be curious to try them…
In the future if they can do canted bushings or auto canted bushings style for the creasy duck angle person like me will be nice too 😉
I read also that some of the Yes Team snowboard rider could use this bindings next year?

Finally, the more I read and analysis this innovation, more I am getting a true believer…
Make so much sense about responsive axel … inertial and gravity must make real powerful… combine now with Shredsole footbed for (canted in the boots) with Now bindings, that should be my next setup for 2013 😉
