Unity Snowboards 2013-2014

17 Mar, 2013

Since 1995, Unity Snowboards has been building snowboards in the center of the Rocky Mountains. The boards are designed for a variety of riding, from big mountain lines to perfect parks to award winning pipes.

For 2014, Unity adds the Kapow snowboard that is one part kicker and one part powder. The Whale, Dominion, Pride, Origin, Reverse and Virgo are back with some updates in store.  Unity also continues with splitboards on the dominion and whale snowboards.

Unity Whale

The Whale boards are a new type of surf style freeride board. On these shapes we moved the wide point on the nose of the board back to match where the nose rocker starts. This makes the board initiate a turn quicker than a normal shaped board with nose rocker. By moving the wide point back it makes the effective edge of the board shorter than normal, making the board feel shorter than it is. The Whale features our float rocker nose profile, that lifts the nose of the board up about 2cm at the end of the effective edge. The Whale boards have some camber from the front foot back to the tail. This gives it super float in deep snow and good edge hold on hard snow. Features full length vertically laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered p-tex sidewall, trizac finished 2001 durasurf sintered base. Flex=6.

Sizes: 156, 160, 167

Unity Kapow

The Kapow is a new way of thinking in the pursuit of progressing snowboarding and its roots. Kapow=one part kicker and one part powder. Features full length vertically laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered P-tex sidewall, trizac finished 2001 durasurf sintered base, megakick. Flex=5.

Sizes: 157, 162

Unity Dominion

The Dominion has always been our classic big mountain freeride board. For 13/14 it is still our big mountain board but with a directional rocker design. Our directional rocker has camber under foot with a rockered nose. This design gives the board precision edge control with a floaty and forgiving nose. We have also added two carbon fiber stringers that start under the front foot and run forward through the rocker zone. This stiffens the area of the rocker curve which keeps the nose from over flexing on big landings. Features full length vertically laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered ptex sidewall, trzac finished 4001 durasurf sintered base. Flex=8.

Sizes: 155, 159, 164, 168, 160W, 165W, 170W, 180

Unity Reverse

These boards are twin tip shapes with twin flex patterns. Our reverse camber design has a small amount of camber between the feet and then angles up at flat angles from the foot area. There is about 6mm of rise on the nose and tail. The subtle amount of reverse camber allows them to carve and hold an edge on hard snow. Thanks to reverse camber, the rider can ride a centered stance and still float really well in powder. Features full length laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered p-tex sidewall, durasurf 2001 sintered base. Flex=5.

Sizes: 146, 152, 155, 154MW, 158MW, 159, 160W, 164, 165W

Unity Origin

The Origin is our true twin park board. They are traditional camber boards. Completely symmetrical in both shape and flex and feature a centered stance, the Origin is perfect for hitting huge park jumps or boosting in the pipe. This year the Origin features unidirectional fiber pads that run side to side under the binding area. This makes for fiber strands that run opposite to the tip to tail fibers creating enhanced reinforcement under each foot. The added strength reduces the possibility of the binding breaking the board from extreme impacts that often occur when riding the park. This is the board of choice for our pipe riders JJ Thomas and Zack Black. Features full length laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered p-tex sidewall, durasurf 2001 sintered base. Flex=7.

Sizes: 152, 155, 154MW, 158MW, 159, 160W

Unity Pride

The Pride is the ultimate do-it-all directional freestyle board. Directional in shape and flex, this board is great for freeriding and it’s deep radial sidecuts make it great for riding the park or pipe. The Pride is a great board for the rider who wants one board to do it all. This year’s Pride boards have a carbon fiber X design across the body of the board. This X creates more response and snap. Overall, it gives the board a very lively feel. Features full length laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered p-tex sidewall, trizac finished durasurf2001 sintered base. Flex=9.

Sizes: 152, 155, 159, 164, 160W, 165W

Unity Origin and Pride

Unity Virgo (Women’s)

The Virgo is our high performance reverse camber women’s specific board. Virgo boards feature our new light weight bi-axial fiberglass for reduced board weight and a softer flex pattern. They are twin tip shapes and flex patterns with centered radial sidecuts. The centered radial sidecut makes the board perform well forward or switch. Features full length laminated wood core, bulletproof sintered p-tex sidewall, trizac finished durasurf2001 sintered base. Flex=4.

Sizes: 145, 148, 152, 155

Unity Splitboards

We are making our splitboards in our Whale  and Dominion series boards. The construction and rocker design is the same as the solid versions of the boards. The splits have sintered p-tex sidewalls, our full length aspen and maple wood cores and rockwell 48 steel edges in the center of the board. The splits will be available with the standard voile insert pattern and will have the tip clips and hooks installed. You will need to have the voile universal splitboard interface to mount your bindings to the board. We also recommend the Spark R&D splitboard binding to really get the most out of your splitboarding experience.

Dominion Sizes: 155, 159, 164, 165W, 170W

Whale Sizes: 160, 167
