Whistler Birthday Celebration + Bike Park 6/12/13

17 Jun, 2013

All I wanted for my 30th birthday was laps in the Whistler bike park, good friends, a visit to the spa and sushi dinner. Whatever else was just a bonus to a fun day! The best part – I got everything I wanted for my birthday.

We started the morning with a ride up Whistler Mountain so we could check out the Peak to Peak gondola. I had ridden it many times in the winter but it was fun to check it out in the summer. The weather cleared up top for us despite some rainfall on the ride over.

Peak to Peak!

Birthday hot chocolate was delish. In the ticket office, an employee overhead it was my birthday (it was hers too) and gave me a free drink coupon. Stoked!

For the afternoon, Carrie and I headed back to Whistler Bike Park to get in our laps. Her goal for me was to start my 30s stepping up my bike game and it worked! We did funshine rolly drops, smoke and mirrors, blueseum. I finally did the scary rock section of the samurai pizza cat.

Last summer I started drops, I went from the tiniest drop in Wednesday night delight to the fourth jump by the end of the summer. To kick off 30, I went to the fifth jump (second biggest) and landed twice! It was good fun.

Ever since I first visited Scandinave Spa – I was amazed. The place literally is the most relaxing place. You can bring a book, soak up the water, relax in a chair and feel damn good. It was a great way to cap off the day with friends and very hard to leave.

Off to Sushi Village for dinner with friends before heading out for drinks to cap off the night. Definitely a memorable night out in Whistler.

That night ended the trip to Whistler, the next day we took off early to return to Seattle for our flights home. Definitely a great birthday celebration.
