Happy Thanksgiving!

Last year I was incredibly lucky to spend the holidays with my family in California and this year I'm incredibly lucky to spend the holidays in Colorado doing Friendsgiving. When you live in ski resort towns working for the mountains, holidays are days you spend with friends more often than family. I am so thankful for friends and family who support me and all my readers who tune in to shayboarder.com. I'm thankfu...

Keystone 11/21/12

Wednesday was a big day for the mountain. Tubing opened, the Ice Rink opened and A51 opened. It was the perfect day for heading up early to capture the new park design on the mountain. Whenever I head up early, it's generally a lap or two for the day while getting photos I can use for social media. [singlepic id=14700 w=500 h=500 float=] The big perk of early mornings is the corduroy right now. It's definitely tun ...

Keystone 11/20/12

With Keystone night riding starting on Wednesday, it was the perfect opportunity for Keystone to give employees a Thanksgiving dinner and pre-night shred only for Keystone employees. Definitely one of the perks of the job is enjoying an almost empty mountain to yourself on those rare occasions. It's been a while since I've ridden nights but I absolutely love night riding. Keystone 11/17/12

Typically on a Saturday I'm spending the day inside working and leaving the runs to our guests but today was a nice lunch break to head out for a couple laps with Phil. I work right near the gondola so laps are easy and fun during the day. Today I was trying out the Never Summer Pandora with my Burton Escapade bindings. It's fun to be on the women's equivalent of the evo since I've spent so much time on the evo an...

Snowboard Review: 11-12 K2 Panoramic Splitboard

Location: Mt. Baker, WA and Thompson Pass, Alaska Snow Conditions: Mixture of heavier fresh snow to lighter snow. Setup: I rode the K2 Panoramic with Spark R&D Burner bindings and Vans size 8 women's boots. Size: 158cm. First Impression: I got this board blindly and it more than did the job for a splitboard setup. Good all-around mountain splitboard. Weight: Average Ease of Use: The Panoramic wa...

Loveland 11/11/12

When I used to live in Steamboat, a trip to Loveland was always worth the effort; they offered a ton of demos, early and late seasons and a mellow environment that was always a fun day on the mountain. Now that I live in Summit County and since today was my day off, I headed to Loveland to check out the on-snow demos from Never Summer, Capita, Arbor and Flux. Colorado Demo Days!
