Steamboat 12/8/07

My plan originally was to hit up Winter Park today for a big snowboard demo. But with the amount of snow that Steamboat got, the fact that Storm Peak was opening today and that I didn't have anyone go with...made Steamboat the better choice. I was really bummed to miss out on demos...but tomorrow in Steamboat is a smaller demo day so that makes me happy.Bright and Early still in SteamboatI made plans with friends t...

Steamboat 12/7/07

Today I had a powder day...which meant I didn't have to show up to work till 11am.I left my place at 8am to head over to the mountain and get to the gondola pretty early. I have a new NS board to try out but with the new powder...I decided to spend the day on the K2 Gyrator to really take this board in the powder and see how it does.We definitely received a couple inches at my place. The first run of the day was head...

Steamboat 12/5/07

Today the gondola and 4 points chairlift were open which meant more terrain on the mountain.During midweek since I work I can take lunch breaks and hit the slopes to ride. Weekends are my longer days to ride. Today I hit the mountain for a couple hours.I took the gondola up, totally empty by myself which is amazing for this time of year. It offered pretty good views of the new chairlift and conditions overall on t...

Steamboat 12/4/07

So since the season has started...I'm also on the mountain more which I'm trying to consider whether I should write blogs each time I'm on the mountain...but I figure why not. I mean anyone who plans to ride Steamboat wants to know how it is and what its like. This is something that a snowfall report can't tell you.Today I was stoked to get out on my lunch break for 2 hours. I heard this morning that BC (Burgess C...

Steamboat 12/2/07

So last night it started dumping in Steamboat...by the time I got home at 2am there was a couple inches on my truck and easily 5-6 inches on my road where I live. So I knew I'd be waking up early to get on the mountain to enjoy some of the new powder that came our way.Since I live higher up on the mountain, I can walk over to the mountain and ride down the beginner run to hit up Christie Chair. This morning I left ...

Steamboat 12/1/07

Today I was gonna make the drive to Copper and not deal with the real opening day at Steamboat. But when 8am came around...driving 2 hours would be a bit tiring plus getting over Rabbit Ears Pass would take longer with snow on the roads. I chose to sleep in and ride Steamboat later in the day.Woke up around 10:30, by 11:30 had walked to the mountain with my roommate Leo and rode down to the new Christie chair to be...

Copper 11/25/07

After seeing that Copper opened the halfpipe yesterday and that there were demo's going on...it was a pretty sure thing that I'd be riding today.I made the trek with my roommate Leo and our friend Chad. Chad rides a 180cm Unity Dominion...which says a lot. Leo is a wicked skier and it was the first time riding with him so I was stoked.Chad, myself and Leo on the chairliftWe had a late start today, leaving Steamboat...

Copper 11/22/07

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers :)Today I woke up at 6am to make the trek with Nick to ride Copper. I was bummed when I got there I realized my camera battery was dead and no pictures would be taken except with my camera phone. I also realized that there were tons of one-piece gaper suits...and I missed capturing them on film!Once there we met up with my friends Amy and John. It was a trek to Copper for 3 runs wi...

Copper 11/17/07

I'd been hesitant to go back to Copper until the lines died down...but they definitely were not bad for riding today. Steve and I showed up to Copper around 10:30am to enjoy another day of snowboarding. We made two runs on American Eagle before noticing that American Flyer chair was open and loading people. Since it was overcast and kind of cloudy day...I finally got to try out the rose lenses on my EG5's. They rocke...
