Snowboarder Magazine Superpark 16: Day 3

Superpark 16 is well underway at Mt Bachelor with invited pros, massive features and plenty of action going on around the mountain. Day three continued with the trend of riders going big, bigger and getting creative. With the help of four parks: Mt Bachelor, OR, Seven Springs, PA, Loon Mountain, NH and Boreal, CA there are more than enough features to play on and photographers to get the shot. The day started with...

What happens when you bring talented and creative park builders, pro riders and media together in one place? A park riders dream full of park pleasure for the taking. This year marks the 16th year of Superpark and plenty of talent are in the house at Mt Bachelor to stomp tricks, make videos and get the shots. Thanks to Pat Bridges, I'm here at Superpark for my first year to watch, take pics and blog about the event ...

Stevens Pass Closing Day 5/6/12

It was an amazing season for snowfall at Stevens Pass; 564" total snowfall for the 2011/12 season, plenty of powder days and an extended season through May for riding. But it was also a rough season for Stevens Pass. Amazing people were taken from us and the local watering hole was burned down towards the end of the season. It was a season of highs and lows but people came together to end the season today the only wa...

Rhythm N Bruise - White Pass 4/29/12

A snowboarding rhythm section that would be longer, higher and smoother. That was the motto for the Rhythm N Bruise contest at White Pass this year. Snowboarders from around Washington, Oregon and even California came up for the event to come get their rhythm on and have a good time in the northwest. I was intrigued by the idea of a rhythm contest and riding White Pass (which I had never gone to before) for the we...

Whistler 4/21/12

One of the best perks of being in Whistler for the Telus Festival is the demo days that go on each weekend. Anyone with a ID and credit card can check out the 2013 snowboards from a ton of brands at Whistler Mountain. I headed up despite all the crew riding Blackcomb and lapped Whistler for the day with my music and a couple boards underneath my feet to review. Since I was riding alone, I didn't take much for photos...

Blackcomb 4/20/12

After a couple days of much needed rest, I hit the highway north to Whistler. Whistler Blackcomb has had an amazing winter and it's still in full force! I always try to come up for the Telus Festival because it's always such a good time on the mountain, apres around town and at the parties every night. This year coming up to Whistler was more about a vacation than anything else. Each day started late, I enjoyed lo...

Tailgate Alaska + Flow World Freeride Championship Finals 4/11/12

After a day off to rest, it was time for Tailgate Alaska and Flow Snowboarding to host the Flow World Freeride Championship Finals. The final location was determined late the night before so even riders didn't know what they would be battling out on. The end result was heli and sled access to the backside of Python and the top 10 riders (two women and eight men) with one run to prove themselves as the ultimate winner...

Tailgate Alaska + Flow World Freeride Championship Qualifiers 4/9/12

The best freeriders took to the mountain yesterday for a chance to qualify for the Flow World Freeride Championship Qualifiers in a midst of steeps, rocks, drops and powder. Instead of riding the mountains around them, everyone gathered at Bro Bowl to watch the qualifiers go down with over 20 athletes taking two runs to try to garner a place in the finals. The crowd watched along a safe zone at the base of the mounta...

Tailgate Alaska: 907 Snowcat 4/8/12

The past couple days in Alaska have been "down days" when the weather comes in and you take a break from the mountains till the snow piles up and the sun comes out. It was a good break and time to figure out the next plan of attack. A couple of the Flow guys mentioned a day of snowcat and I was really happy with my first day with 907 before Tailgate Alaska began so I mentioned all of us heading up for the day with th...

Tailgate Alaska: Snowboarding Thompson Pass 4/3/12

Tailgate Alaska is well underway at Thompson Pass. It's been beautiful every day and today was a great day to get out on the mountain. Gilly was kind enough to bump us with his sled so we could get in our laps for the day. We headed up to below Bro Bowl to get in turns. The snow was mixed, it's been settling since there hasn't been new snow and there's an assortment of heavy snow to lighter snow depending on where...
