Snowcial + Heavenly 3/2/13

Snowcial was winding down on Saturday but it meant the perfect timing for a full day on the slopes with everyone who attended the conference. I worked in the morning before heading onto the slopes to join the group for lunch and Epic Mix Racing. I hadn't tried Epic Mix Racing yet but after the first lap and then more laps, it started getting addicting as I tried to beat my previous times and ride better against La...

Snowcial + Heavenly 3/1/13

From late nights to early mornings, Snowcial is one of the most fun conferences for winter sports marketing. It was definitely good to be hanging back with familiar faces and friends for the weekend. Friday was a morning of presentations before hitting the slopes in the afternoon. Friday morning speakers were Greg Cannon from Caesars entertainment, Stanley Hainesworth from Tether, Christopher Steiner from Forbes...

Snowcial + Heavenly 2/28/13

When it came time to decide on what conference to attend this year, Snowcial was the one I really wanted to have happen. Mainly because it brings together many of the ski resorts and marketers whose passions lie in skiing and snowboarding. Not only that, Snowcial brings in incredible guest speakers that make you think outside the box and try to become better snow marketers. This was technically my third year of at...

Sierra at Tahoe 2/27/13

It's been a busy last couple days of traveling but I finally made it to Lake Tahoe! It's good to be back to return to the Snowcial Conference. My first stop was Sierra at Tahoe where I could spend the day lapping the mountain and getting my snowboard feet back under me. I have two friends that work at Sierra in marketing so it was good to catch up and see them for the day. Since it was midweek, there were no lines...

SIA 2013 On-Snow Demo: Day 1

After a couple days of SIA, it was time to stop checking out the gear and try it on the slopes at Winter Park. I carpooled out for the day with the girls so we could check out gear and lap the mountain for the day. Despite some cold on-snow's in previous years, this year delivered with a fun day with warmer temps and good conditions. Stay tuned, all the boards below will be reviewed on Shayboarder.com over the next c...

Keystone 1/19/13

Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend the morning in the park taking photos of a rider practicing a trick for the upcoming X-Games. The rider was Torstein Horgmo and the trick was the Switch Backside Triple Cork. [singlepic id=14764 w=500 h=333 float=center] It was an early morning in the park to meet up with everyone. The Shredbots would be making an edit in addition to our Keystone filmer capturing footage ...

Keystone 1/9/13

One of the best perks of my job is being able to really get out and explore the mountain. I wake up early, I get first turns on corduroy days, on powder days and on my favorite bluebird days. It helps when knowing what the mountain is actually like on any given day and to help collect photos that I can use on social media. View at 8:30am from Keystone [singlepic id=14758 w=500 h=375 float=center] This morning was ...

Vail 1/7/13

I've been definitely overdue to ride the other Vail Resorts mountains this year so today's trip to Vail was a great way to spend my day off. I headed down with Jess and Phil to meet up with Andy for the day and also got in laps with Scott, Wendy and Nick. We ended up exploring the mountain, cruising around and having a good time doing it. Jess cruising [singlepic id=14749 w=500 h=375 float=] Conditions were defini...

Keystone 12/4/12

I'm not one to turn down a ride break especially when friends walk into my office geared up and ask. It was an easy decision to make a couple laps with Jess and Phil today. The mountain was a bit busier than yesterday but still fun to make laps and not crowded. We ended up taking Ranger lift for a couple mini park laps. [singlepic id=14715 w=500 h=375 float=] Phil nose pressing the flat box [singlepic id=14716 w=5...

Keystone 12/3/12

Since we've opened I've gotten into a routine with my days off. Typically I spend Sundays running errands, at home, relaxing while I let the weekend crowds enjoy the slopes but come Monday I'm geared up, working or riding on the mountain. It works for my job and still allows me to have a good amount of ride time. Myself on the lift. I've been trying out the new Arnette Skylight goggles the past week [singlepic id=1...
