Snowboarding

Mammoth 4/24/11

It didn't look like the best day to be outside on the mountain but despite the weather, it was a day to enjoy skiing and snowboarding.  A quick trip up to Main Lodge showed that many people decided to stay in and that the mountain was ours to enjoy.  We ended up parking at The Village to prepare for the Pond Skim later in the day.  It was snowing in The Village, a sign of the mountain's conditions. I headed up to...

June 4/23/11

With June Mountain closing, it was an easy decision to plan to ride June one day this weekend before they close for the season.  We packed up the car, loaded it up with our gear, picked up the aussie crew and headed up the highway for the easy drive to June.  On the way, I got the call that my brother was driving into town and would meet up for riding. It worked out perfectly for timing and it was a great decision...

Mammoth 4/19/11

It's hard to believe most resorts are closed for the season when the season is still going strong in Mammoth.  After this week we close some of the mountain but the Main Lodge to the top portion stays open till July 4.  The conditions have been interesting, winter one day, spring the next.  Today was spring with winds so the best choice was heading over to South Park to meet up with the skier and some of the aussi...

June 4/17/11

Living in Mammoth Lakes has been a dream and having Mammoth in my backyard has been better than imagined but having June nearby is the icing on the cake.  It's a different vibe than Mammoth and it reminds me of the ski hills back home (not resorts) except with amazingly good parks.  I've had great pow days and great park days at June this year and today was a day to get back there before they close up for the seaso...

Mammoth 4/16/11

I had two choices for today:  take photos and watch the volcom PB+RJ finals in Main Park or stay in Art Park and mini park filming and lapping features (including trying new ones!).  I chose the second option, even though the first would have been fun to check out the contest, I wanted to just get out and snowboard all day long.  So sorry if you wanted PB+RJ finals coverage, I went snowboarding! I started out t...

Mammoth 4/15/11

The best way to end the work week is shred time with the co-workers.  That was today!  I headed out with my Mammoth Marketing co-workers for an afternoon of snowboarding (even the skiers went riding).  The conditions were warm with a breeze and the snow was sticky, definitely a reminder to make sure my gear is spring waxed. Co-workers:  Ashley, Joani, Dan and myself [singlepic id=11354 w=500 h=281 float=] ...

Mammoth 4/14/11

It's been an interesting April week for weather in Mammoth.  Started out sunny and warm, turned into full blown winter and windy then back to sunny and windy.  I've been anxious to spend more time on the Endeavor color so hit the slopes for a lunch break and shred sesh over by Canyon Lodge today. This year at Mammoth has been amazing for snowfall.  Record breaking snowfall and tons of snow, about 52 feet of snowf...

Mammoth 4/12/11

After the weekend trip to Seattle I was ready to get back on snow for some lunchtime shred sessions.  The conditions are good, the sun's been out and there's no reason not to take a couple laps through Forest Trail at lunchtime.  I hit up the mountain with Dan who was out trying his snowboard skills (usually he skis). It was also a good day to test out the 2012 Endeavor Color Series for a couple laps and adjust ...

Holy Oly 2011

In the days leading up to Holy Oly, I was trying to explain why I would fly up to Seattle just for this contest but it comes down to the experience of it.  It's a northwest competition that's based around the fun and promotion of snowboarding without worrying about winning or losing, making money or being in the magazines.  It's seeing the up and comers riding next to the legends of snowboarding.  The northwest br...

June 4/3/11

Sunday Funday.  That was what I hoped for today as we gathered a crew to head to June Mountain and it definitely turned out to be the ideal Sunday Funday.  Packed up the truck full (literally) with people and snowboards/skis for the 25 minute trek down the highway to the less crowded but awesome June Mountain.  Showed up at 11am, parked 20 feet from the chairlift and hit the slopes for a warm day on the mountain. ...
