What the hell are they thinking at Rome?

The Design–which is NO DOUBT Rome's best board is Beyond a disapointment….

UGH….

Thanks for the good news and the information on extruded/sintered bases ( ^_^)b

I’m new to the blog, but have added it to my RSS feed so will be reading daily.

All the best,

Rich

Give me a day or two.

Rich, Sorry should have been more clear, Crail has a extruded base, the headline/old solution has sintered. That’s the big difference between the two boards. Depends, sometimes extruded is good to have around, easier to repair, slower. Extruded bases tend to be on jib park boards. Sintered is more durable, faster and holds wax better.

Thanks for the quick reply.

It was all sounding good until I read about the change to an extruded base. Granted, I’m only new to snowboarding, but that’s a negative change, right – means a relatively slower, heavier and weaker base?

I’ve been riding a T.Rice for the past 2 season but I found that it isn’t what I need. The blunt tips hook up in pow and it’s too stiff for rails and boxes. Still use it as a big jump park board, just looking for something a little more playful and a little less specific i guess. Really interested in the Capita Green Machine and Indoor FK, as well as the Rome Pusher, but I don’t think my size 12 DC’s will fit.

Rome does not have a wide reverse camber, unfortunate I know. I was surprised they didn’t go into the wide foot market.

K2 has a lot of wide rockers for 09-10, best assortment I’ve seen. Ride has crush and machete in wide versions. There’s a couple other companies, need to look through them all to find the wide boards with rocker. Obviously Lib/GNU/NS as well.

It looks like the Solution is discontinued and there is a new board in it’s place with some upgrades to it called the Headline. In addition to what the solution had, it has BST Torque stringer technology (snappier, lighter, stronger increasing torsional response), eco friendly sidewalls, mountain bevel (less catchy). Same sizes are current solution and is a 9 on the mountain scale instead of the solution’s 8.

Big thing between the two is the bases, sintered versus extruded. Flex differences with the stringers versus non.

I’m planning on getting a new board next year and want something with rocker/reverse camber, but I need a wide board. Any suggestions?

Does that mean that it’s being discontinued in 09/10?

I’m only new to boarding, but I was looking at getting the Crail or Solution as entry/intermediate boards respectively…
