Intended Purpose: The Smarty 2.5 complete ply pant offers a high waterproofing and breathability rating, fleece and thermal inner liner to help keep you layered on the mountain when you need it. Fit: The 2.5 complete ply pants are a 686 regular fit. At first when I got them I didn’t like the fit, I thought they were too fitted around the knees than I would have liked but a more fitted pant than the baggy fits I was used to. At the end of the season, these ended up being my go-to pant and the fitted pants won me over. Appearance: I have always had a black backup pant and the smarty 2.5 complete series was perfect as that go-to black pant for the season. After wearing them in the sun all summer I did notice the color fading from so much sun. Overall I like the cargo pockets on the pants since they close by zipper and velcro so nothing gets out. The inner pants can be used as pajama pants which helps when you forget yours or don’t expect to crash somewhere and have pajamas. In terms of material this was one thing I wasn’t a fan […]

Intended Purpose: The Bonfire particle snowboard pants are designed to be waterproof, breathable and ready to roll in the snow. Fit: The particle pants have a classic fit which means not too tight, not too baggy. I really liked how they fit me, just on the baggy side but not ultra baggy and good comfort all around. Appearance: I bought the particple pants for the color. I had watched my Analog pants in the exact same color die a quick death and wanted to replace with a better quality pant of the same color. Bonfire had exactly what I wanted with the particle pant. The cargo pockets on the side are perfect for easy access to my camera and enough pocket space on the pants for stashing keys, cell and stickers. Features: The particle pants feature 7,000mm waterproofing and 5,000 gm breathability. For Colorado dry conditions the mm/gm ratings were perfect. It was a little less than I would have liked but they held up on the few rainy days that I encountered with them. They are critically taped and come in a classic fit in a variety of colors. There isn’t much for features but the basic just need […]

Intended Purpose: Designed to be a lightweight first layer and with dryride ultrawick it helps repel moisture. It’s quick drying and stink proof to keep a sweaty day on snow less noticeable to your friends. Appearance: I bought the men’s tech polo in the white color mostly because it was the only color they had on sale and I wanted to try it. I use it as my under layer so it goes underneath a cotton shirt/hoodie/jacket on the snow. Best Used for: I use it as my main underlayer for the mountain especially on cold days it helps keep me dry underneath and absorbs any sweat during snowboarding. On the warmer days I usually wear it as my only shirt since it’s long sleeve below a hoodie or jacket. On really warm days, I don’t wear it and miss it. Fit: The tech polo has stretch 360 so you have unlimited mobility on the mountain and it is a really stretchable material. Since I’m rocking the men’s version it’s on the tall tee side for me which I actually like. I don’t understand the hate on tall tees, I can change out of my snowboard pants in the parking […]

Intended Purpose: Designed to be a lightweight facemask offering bandana inspired style coupled with the technical protection and functionality of traditional ski masks and balaclavas. Appearance: I received the black bandana with a red geometric stripe down the side of the mask. I like the simple design of it and the red stripe gives it something extra. Best Used for: The alpha facemask is a lightweight facemask best used for mild to bluebird days on the mountain. I took it out on your typical snowday (20-30 degrees) and it was great but on a colder snow day (-10) it was too lightweight to handle the coldness. Fit: The alpha mask is one size fits all which I found worked for me without any adjustment, I gave my boss the facemask and it fit his face as well. The alpha mask has elastic ear straps which allow you to pull the mask down and then pop it back up. I found it required some adjustment on my part to get used to the ear straps since I’m not used to having strings over my ears. The mask is connected with velcro on the back of the mask so you can have […]

Intended Purpose: The 686 KR3W Lumberjack is a softshell jacket that is a limited edition collaboration between 686 and KR3W. The softshell jacket is durable enough to be used as your main jacket and with 10,000mm and 8,000gm it holds up for most days on the mountain. Fit: The 686 KR3W jacket continues with the 686 fit that it’ll run baggy on you. I like the fit especially when it comes to mobility in jackets to have a baggier fit when I wear them. Of course I wear men’s jackets so I have to take in the hip factor to make sure the jacket can account for my hips first. The arm length on the jacket is more than I need, so on the days that I don’t wear warm enough gloves I can keep my hands in the jacket while riding. Appearance: I’m a big fan of the lumberjack look which has been quite popular on the mountain. It’s so popular that even though this jacket is limited edition if you live in Colorado you’ll see roughly 2 -3 others on the mountain with it on any given day (except at Silverton or Durango). You might also have this […]

Intended Purpose: Spring pipe glove for women on the mountain (MFR’s pro glove model) Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. In Rome gloves I fit a medium or large, the large is a bit easier to get into and looser but the medium is snug and ideal for a glove thats shaped perfectly around my hand. I’m rocking the MFR gloves in medium so a bit tighter, harder to pull off but perfect with my hand shape. Features: The best feature in my opinion is how they look and feel, really easy to slip on and take off when I need to. They have a 10 on the five finger freedom scale and I would agree, you have very good grip with them and feels like your riding without gloves because of how they fit and the material. In the palm is synLeather which adds for the grippage factor and other features are lycra sidewalls, velcro wrist closure and a must needed soft nose wipe panel. I definitely use the nose wipe for the runny nose days on the mountain. It’s the MFR glove so the design and style of MFR is there, it’s not your typical girly pink glove […]

A women’s undercuff glove/mitt with pile fleece insulation, an aquabloc ® insert and a combination soft-shell / stormguard outer, providing the ultimate in warmth, comfort, breathability and dexterity. These gloves are also 09-10 Drop Precious Gloves. Intended Purpose: Winter glove for women on the mountain. Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. In drop gloves, I fit into the women’s medium. The glove stretches so I can fit my hand inside it. Once my hand is in the glove, it fits just fine. Not too much material, I have good grip with my hands and can hold onto objects through the gloves. Features: There is no inner liner glove, it does feature moisture wicking microfleece lining to keep your hands warm. I love the position of the nose wipe, making it soft and easy to wipe your nose when riding without hurting your face or turn your hand weirdly to get to it. The gloves so far have remained waterproof, warm and keep my hands comfortable while riding with the help of the aquabloc technology. There are finger pleats for dexterity making it easy to use the hands and fingers when riding. The gloves fit right under my jacket with no […]
