Intended Purpose: Designed for smaller faces, the Smith I/OS is based off of the popular I/O model and features an easy interchangeable design so you can switch out lenses easily. Location: I rode these goggles most of the winter at Mammoth Mountain with some days at June Mountain and Sugarbowl. Conditions: Since these goggles came with two lenses (sensor and sol-x mirror), I’ve worn them in a variety of conditions during this winter: snowing, windy, icy, overcast (though not rainy), bluebird, flat light. Color: I bought the I/OS in the Heritage Green Tartan colorway, I like the mix of blue/green plaid on the goggles and I couldn’t get my first pick of the crazy aqua colorway so I went with my second pick. I think the lens colors really go with the goggle design so that’s why I liked it. Lens: The I/OS comes with two lenses which is perfect for a interchangeability of the goggle. I got it with the Sensor Mirror lens and the Sol-X Mirror. In the California sunshine, the Sol-X got a lot of time on the mountain and it is built for sunny bluebird conditions. The Sensor Mirror lens was the lens of choice for […]

Location: I’ve worn these gloves for most of January at Mammoth Mountain and a powder day at June Mountain Conditions: I’ve worn these gloves on a majority of sunny bluebird days with warm to colder temps but also on a powder day at June Mountain with colder temps and deep snow. Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. I’m rocking the misty’s in the mens medium which fit but are looser than I’d like, the men’s smalls would fit me better. The good news is the mediums just have extra width room in the palm but the wrist room and finger length is fine on the gloves. Color: I bought these in the blue lagoon colorway which actually matches my snowboard pants (favorite color). The blue lagoon glove has blue/black palm with crazy designs of monsters, on the top of the glove is the celtek and a little monster (celtek dude) with the logo. They are bright, fun and playful…I like all three. Features: The Celtek Misty is a men’s pipe glove in the celtek line. The glove features a comfy four-way stretch nylon, […]

Intended Purpose: The Columbia Powder Bowl Parka is a technical jacket that offers up advanced Omni-Heat warmth, sleek designs and an assortment of technical features to stay warm and dry on the mountain. It makes the coldest days on the slopes, the warmest and offers waterproofing for those cold/wet days. Fit: When I was asked what size I wanted, I went with the bigger size. #1 because I didn’t have the chance to try it on and #2 because I’d rather it be large and baggy than tight and small. The fit on me is definitely bigger than I need but comfortably bigger, the length is good for the slopes. It’s kind of a boxy shape and with the inner jacket, it’s definitely my warmest puffiest jacket I own now. Appearance: I’ve dialed in my style in this year; keeping with simple colors and some bright but the Columbia parka was a pleasant surprise because it isn’t a style I’d pick for myself. I probably would have gone with more solid colors than the crazy mix of green/gray but I’ve warmed up to it after wearing it more often. Features: The biggest feature of the Columbia Powder Bowl Parka […]

Location: I’ve been rocking these gloves in the early season at Mammoth Mountain in California. Conditions: I’ve worn these gloves on colder to snowy days on the mountain. The majority of time has been spent on snowy days with new powder. Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. In Swany I fit into the women’s large gloves with a good fitting in the finger length and fit around my hand. It’s a good thing when both the inner and outer glove fit your hands good. Color: I received these gloves in the black color option which still have some bright checkered colors on the top portion of the glove but keep with the simplistic black design around the rest of the glove. Features: The harmony gloves feature a silicone soft-shell back and toaster finger free access with a removable iphone friendly digital finger tip system inner glove. The inner glove is a big highlight, you can take off your gloves easily to use your phone or take photos with your camera while still keeping your hands warm. The […]

Intended Purpose: Designed to be a lightweight first layer and with dryride ultrawick it helps repel moisture. It’s quick drying and stink proof to keep a sweaty day on snow less noticeable to your friends. It’s functional for warm weather coverage or midwinter insulation. Appearance: I bought the men’s camp pullover hoodie in the true black color which features some red and a super soft net looking hoodie design. I use is as my under layer so I usually wear it under my jacket on the snow. Best Used for: a underlayer for the mountain on cold and warm days. But also a hoodie you can wear after snowboarding or around town. Fit: The camp pullover hoodie has stretch 360 so you get unlimited mobility on the mountain and a really stretchable material. I’m rocking the men’s version on the mountain which is super baggy and loose fitting but it’s also not as tall tee as the original dryride tech polo I got last year, it’s more average length for the mountain. I love the thumb holes on the hoodie. Durability: I’ve put over two weeks of snowboarding in the pullover hoodie and worn it around town as a shirt […]

Location: I’ve been rocking these gloves since opening day to the present day at Mammoth Mountain in California. Conditions: I’ve worn these gloves on a majority of sunny bluebird days with warm to colder temps but also on the occasional powder day. Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. In these Rome gloves I fit the men’s small. I have to wiggle my hands into them but they fit great and there’s no velcro closure around the wrist so I like that I bought them on the snug side. Color: I bought these in the print colorway which is bright pink gripping on the palms and blue crazy zebra stripes mix on the other side. I like the brightness of them and the crazy designs. Features: The Rome Love Glove is a men’s glove in the Rome line and meant to be a lighter pipe or spring glove. It offers a synsuede palm with impregnated silicon grip, a 4-way stretch nylon shell, lycra sidewalls, and a soft nose wipe panel. Since I get a runny nose on the mountain I definitely appreciate the soft […]

Conditions: I’ve worn these gloves on typically cold days with new snow but on some warmer days with hardpacked conditions. I prefer them on the colder days because they keep my hands warm and offer good comfort for the snowy days. On bluebird warmer days, I find myself taking them off on the lifts because my hands are a little too warm. Sizing: I have typical women’s hands. In Rome gloves I fit a medium or large but with these gloves I chose to buy the large to be on the safe size. The large fits my wrist and finger length just fine but not as tight around the fingers. They are snug and easy to pull on and off. Color: I bought these in the pop color which is just a multicolor glove instead of the black option.
Intended Purpose: Meant for colder days on the slopes to keep your face warm and covered up. Appearance: I received the black strip/black reversible neckwarmer. I mostly use the black stripe side because it’s just a simple design. Best Used for: The clast neckwarmer is best for cold days on the mountain with some windchill. The two layers of merino wool will keep you face warm during those icy temps. I’ve worn it on warmer days when it’s windy and it blocks out the wind/sun without being overly hot. Fit: The clast reversible neckwarmer is basically a necktube that you pull over your head and it stays on during the day on the slopes. Mine fits me perfectly, tighter around the face, loose around the neck. Easy to pull up and down on the slopes. Durability: The durability test hasn’t been complete on the neckwarmer since I’ve only ridden with it at Hood a couple times this summer and now at Mammoth. I’ll definitely be wearing it more often this winter to see how it holds up for quality. Thoughts: I like the simplicity of neckwarmers as facemasks and the clast reversible merino is a material that keeps your face […]

Intended Purpose: The Burton Windstopper Hoodie is meant to be lightweight, windproof and breathable. Plus it’s warm meaning you stay warm underneath it and it keeps you dryer than you’d think. Normally I wouldn’t review a “hoodie” but this isn’t your average hoodie when it comes with a Gore-Tex name on it. Fit: It’s an average Burton fit so whatever size you typically wear you’ll do fine in your average size on this one. I prefer things a little bigger so I find it not my ideal size for always wearing on the mountain but when I use it as a layer or jacket around town…the fit works fine. Appearance: I received the windstopper in last year’s curaco dyed yarn plaid which is just a mix print of blue/brown all over plaid. I actually wasn’t a fan of the color at first but ended up completely falling in love with it. Not sure I could pull off plaid ( i have curves, haha) all the time but eventually i got over it. The design of the windstopper hoodie is rather simple but it has oversized pockets which are great for colder days keeping your hands in them and for me […]

Sizing: I have typical women’s hands and I’m rocking the high 5’s in medium which are a good fit in width of the glove and on the thumb. Features: The high 5 mitt’s feature a waterproof palm and breathable back hand with celebration high 5 grip on the palm. It’s a spring glove so not as bulky as a winter glove and offers water resistance so you stay drier on the mountain. Personally I think the high 5 palm is the best feature because it’s fun and gives out high 5’s but the waterproofing and breathability also helps big time for summer snowboarding. Durability: I have yet to find a spring glove that can hold up to the windells rope tow but the high 5 mitt’s last for most of the summer with the grip not wearing off in the palm. There’s some minor wear on the elastic wrist closure but all in all the mitts held up throughout the summer.
