Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: I rocked the Team bindings in the M/L bindings which fit my size 8 women’s boots just fine. First Impression: It takes a strong binding to go well with the Lib Tech Trice and Torah Bright’s binding is just that. Appearance: I tried the Roxy Team bindings in the Torah Bright design which is white with some gold marking on the binding. It’s pretty basic in design with subtle flashyness. Comfort: The Team bindings definitely offered up a padded and supportive ride for the mountain. It features high density real feel performance strap padding with minimalistic design, shock-absorbing full EVA footbed and dual density foam canted footbed. Very comfortable ride for the mountain and helps absorb the rough riding. Functionality: The Roxy Team bindings feature a RX-a super lightweight highback with an asymmetrical women’s specific design, heel pocket with friction grip hold, lateral adjust highbacks with tool free forward lean. Setup: I rode the Burton Escapade Bindings on every snowboard this season but mostly the NS Lotus/Thrive Renegade with my Ride Cadence boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: My size 8 boots fit in the large women’s bindings with good width, functionality and comfort. First Impression:Response combined with forgiveness and movement in the Escapades this year…perfect for riding all conditions, all the time. Appearance: I love blue so having the Burton Escapade’s in the blue colorway is exactly what I wanted. Very bright, fun with subtle designs to it. Comfort: The Escapades are all about comfort. Good padding in the baseplate cover to the highback and straps. No pressure points and it keeps my feet without pain on the mountain. Functionality: The Burton Escapades are compatible with my traditional 4×4 snowboards, I haven’t used the bindings on a Burton board yet and they are holding up just fine when switching from board to board on the traditional pattern with the right plate.
Snowflakes have fallen, resorts have opened and all the 2012/2013 gear will be hitting the slopes soon! Each year I get the opportunity to ride and review gear before they hit the shops. Eventually this list will be expanded but here’s the collection of bindings I was able to try out so far! So far I’ve ridden 14 bindings, 8 men’s and 6 women’s models. Each review is judged by the same standard and for the majority of reviews I used my own boots. If you have a specific binding you would like to be reviewed please request it in the comment section. About me as a snowboarder: I’m coming up on my 19th season snowboarding. I am majority freerider (I ride trees, powder, steeps, groomers, natural terrain) and I ride halfpipe. I’m progressing my park experience with boxes/rails. I am 5’6″ and typically ride a 156cm for my all mountain board, my powder board is a 161cm and my park board is a 151cm. I am a regular rider with a 22 inch width, +15, -15 stance angles. I wear size 8 womens snowboard boots and feel comfortable riding both men’s and women’s bindings. My opinion is only my […]

Fit: I rocked the Forces in the M/L size which is what I’ve used in the past. They fit my size 8 women’s boots with some adjustments to the straps and heelcup. First Impression: I can always count on the Forces to be my go-to binding on the mountain. Gets the job done without the bells and whistles. Appearance: I tried the Forces in the bright pink colorway. I prefer the blue but the pink is really really bright, similar to the women’s Trilogy bindings this year but for the men to have the bright pink option. Comfort: The Forces continue to offer comfort on the mountain, good padding in the highback to baseplate. The straps are form fitting to the boot. Functionality: The Union Forces are known for workhouse dependability. They feature stage II base dupont zytel ST, multizone dupont ST highbacks with injected EVA bushings. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up the bindings. I ended up using them on the Ride Buckwild and Lobster Freestyle Baord so it was an easy switch to set up both bindings. Fit: I’m not sure what size DMCC bindings I rode, either the small or mediums for my size 8 women’s boots but the fit was good. It wasn’t too large or too small. First Impression: Good powering and response through the binding. Definitely the stiffest Flux binding I’ve ridden to date. Appearance: I tried the Flux DMCC bindings in the deep purple colorway. Don’t let the name deceive you though, the binding is mostly black with some deep purple on the highback. Overall very sleek in the design elements to match the riding style. Comfort: Keeping in synch with the Flux tradition, the DMCC bindings followed through on overall comfort. Good shock absorption on the footbed and great padding on the ankle strap make for a good combination for the mountain. Functionality: The Flux DMCC […]

Time to set up the binding: The Union Trilogies were easy to set up and adjusted with the straps to be ready to go. Fit: I rocked the Trilogies in the medium sizing which were a good fit to my size 8 Vans boots. Only an adjustment to the straps was needed to make sure they were centered. First Impression: I can always count on this binding to ride with dominating women’s freeride boards and still hold its own. Appearance: I tried the Trilogies in the Magenta colorway which is bright. On the Jones mothership, the bindings really stood out and on the B-Pro, they were completely suited to the just as bright graphics. I personally loved the bright magenta even though I thought I wouldn’t. With Unions, the heelcup gets adjusted to fit my boots better so that took a couple extra minutes. Fit: I tried the Union Contact Pro bindings in the M/L sizing which fits my women’s size 8 boots just fine with adjustments. First Impression: It was my first time riding the Contact Pro’s but rode very consistent, comfortable and still capable of powering down the mountain. Time to set up the binding: No time at all, I grabbed the bindings from Union and brought them over to Bataleon to get them mounted. They were ready to go with the straps already aligned up. Fit: I rode these bindings in the M/L size which are a good fit to my size 8 Vans boots. I was able to get the straps adjusted and centered so they didn’t shift while riding. First Impression: The upgrades to the Milan just make the binding that much better. Appearance: The Milans I tried out were bright but so are the rest of the Milan color options. Super neon green with purple flare on the binding made them completely overshadow any board underneath them (no offense Bataleon). Comfort: The Milans are all about comfort for the female rider and continue to add to it with the 2013 Milan focused on padding.
Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the K2 Agogo bindings on the K2 Highlite with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. It was more about making sure the adjustments for the auto strap fit so took a couple minutes to get it dialed and tested. Fit: I tried the Agogo bindings in the medium size which have fit my boots fine in the past and for this pair. The toe strap was secure around the toebox on my boot and the width of the binding worked with my boot just fine. First Impression: Continues to be the Agogo with Auto, all mountain riding and good comfort.
