100 days is the true test of wear and tear on snowboard gear. It determines whether a company builds gear for the 100 day rider or builds gear for the average snowday rider. Over the past couple years, only a couple products have made the 100 day test. After 100 days, they get the perspectives post to identify how they look after so many days, how durable they are and what the wear/tear looks like. It’s not so much a usual review but it is a judge of quality. [singlepic id=12541 w=600 h=1067 float=] Last fall, I received the Union Team Force bindings to use for this season. The Union Team Forces received over 100 days and were my main snowboard binding for the season. The only time I didn’t ride them was demo days and testing days for other brands. These bindings were production models so the same that went out to everyone else and that was a noticeable improvement in quality over samples. [singlepic id=12533 w=500 h=281 float=] Ladders/Ratchets: These are the original ladders/ratchets that came with the bindings. No issues on skipping or sticking this season. They’ve continued to work all winter long. [singlepic id=12542 w=600 h=1067 […]

100 days can seem like a lot or a little depending on how many days you ride each season. Over the past couple years, only a couple products have endured the 100 day mark. After 100 days they get the perspectives post to identify how they look after so many days, how durable they are and what the wear/tear looks like. It’s not so much a usual review but it is a judge of quality. I’ve been riding the Vans Veil’s (used to be Omni’s) model for almost ten seasons now. Since boots are such an important part of your snowboard gear, I have chosen to stay with the model that fits my feet to perfection and focus on other reviews (snowboards, bindings, softgoods) for those less tied to fit. Last year after writing the 100 day perspective, Vans added me to their wear test program. Basically I get to ride the next season’s boots, document the wear/tear after so many days and give them feedback. So for the 2010/11 season I was riding the 2011/12 Vans Veils in order to give feedback. This year the Vans Veils received over 100 days on snow and were ridden from December to […]

Last summer I purchased a new pair of 08-09 Vans Veil to be my main snowboard boot this winter and they just recently surpassed the 100th day on snow which means they get 100 day perspective to see how well they’ve held up through countless days on snow riding. Most snowboard companies make products that last for the average rider…giving about 30-50 days on snow. [singlepic id=9337 w=400 h=267 float=] The Vans Veils (used to be Omni’s) have been my main snowboard boot since 02-03 and I’ve always gone back to them because I know the stiffer flex will last a whole season, the quality of Vans and BOA will work for the 100 day rider and the fit is exactly what I want in a snowboard boot. [singlepic id=9334 w=400 h=267 float=] The major wear damage to my Veils is on the left inner liner where the inside liner material rubs up against velcro and over 100 days has worn down the inner liner to basically nothing in that one spot. [singlepic id=9335 w=400 h=267 float=] The Vans Veils feature a dual BOA system which is what I prefer on the mountain, lower and upper BOA to keep it […]
