Location: Steamboat, Colorado Snow Conditions: Groomers to powder to icy days. Setup: I rode the Union Force bindings with a variety of snowboards but mainly the Infinity-R and Lotus-R and my Vans Omni Focus boots now wearing Rome Vamp boots. Time to set up the binding: Average Fit: It was easy to adjust them to my vans boots however when I changed to Rome boots, I needed to adjust them again because they were adjusted to a different boot. They fit both boots fine. First Impression: I needed a solid pair of bindings to try out as I demo’d companies without bindings…and Force’s were the first choice to rock for the day, I knew they’d be issue-free. Appearance: The red stands out and makes the binding look hot, sizzling red lipstick hot. Comfort: When I first took them out it took a couple runs to adjust to the highback for me, but after that I haven’t noticed it being an issue. I think it was the switch from a lower women’s highback to the men’s highback. The ankle strap is comfortable and molds to my boot just fine. The toe strap once adjusted fits my boot. Padding on the highback […]

Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hardpacked groomers to icy groomers to fresh snow on the runs. Setup: I rode the k2 Cinch Vette on the K2 Believer with my Vans Omni Focus size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time Fit: In the width of the binding, it fit my boots just fine. I probably would have pulled out the toe ramp to be more aligned with my boots but it was a demo day when I rode them. First Impression: Cinches are fun to ride because you get two ways to strap in. Do I need two ways, probably not but I won’t be disappointed with two ways either. Appearance: It’s a bit too girly for me, pink and white with flowers. Reminds me of a wedding cake and I’m not a fan of wedding cakes. Comfort: Plush binding, a comfortable ankle strap that I hardly notice when riding. Padding in the heel and toe of the baseplate to absorb bumps when riding. Toe strap was decent. Functionality: The point of the cinch is to be functional, easier to get in and out. I see the demand for cinch bindings, I think they finally have […]

Setup: I rode the Union Force SL bindings with a variety of snowboards and my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: Average Fit: At the time the fit felt fine, the toe strap seemed pretty big for my boot size but I had no problems with staying in the bindings and aligning the straps. First Impression: I needed a solid pair of bindings to try out as I demo’d companies without bindings…and Force’s were the first choice to rock for the day, I knew they’d be issue-free. Appearance: They look good…hands down. Black with red spiderweb stitching on the straps, clean design from highback to baseplate. Nothing too flashy, no extra bullshit crap that you don’t need on bindings, just good looks and simple but quality design. Comfort: Starting from the highback to the straps, pure comfort. I had no problems with the highbacks being too tall for my boots or not comforming, they were fine and the straps while the ankle was narrower still offered the support I needed. Padding in the baseplate to absorb any rougher […]

Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hardpacked groomers to icy groomers to fresh snow on the runs. Setup: I rode the Salomon relay-elite bindings on the Salomon Sick Stick and Salomon Sanchez with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: Average time Fit: The ankle strap was centered and adjusted to my boot. The toe strap when I took it out with the Sanchez kept slipping over my toe no matter how tight I got it. I adjusted the toe strap to the inner hole when I took out the Sick Stick which made it better and not slipping during riding. However the toe strap really doesn’t fit my boots that well. First Impression: The toe strap and me hate each other. Appearance: Kind of reminded me of curtains that my grandma would like. They aren’t bad looking, I just think they have more flare than they need. Comfort: The ankle strap is pretty bulky but a good soft flexing strap against the boot. The highback fit my boot shape and the baseplate cover offers padding beneath the toes and heels making it a very comfortable ride down the slopes. Functionality: Despite some extra flare […]

Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Hardpacked icy in the morning to soft bumpy in the afternoon groomers Setup: I rode the Raiden Tigre’s on 4 boards so far, the GNU B-pro, Never Summer Infinity, Lib TRS and Lib Phoenix Lando. Time to set up the binding: Average Fit: I’ve been rocking Rome’s so long that it took me a little longer to get everything dialed to my boot when I received the bindings. Didn’t have to adjust the heelcup to my boots and only had to adjust the straps. First Impression: I found a replacement to the Madison. Appearance: It’s a sleek black design with small raiden symbols on the binding. It’s not fancy or super color coordinated, but it’s sleek and it works. The ratchets are my favorite part, reminds me of a bottle opener. Comfort: The ankle strap is slim but really cushiony, it molds to my vans boots and my rome boots just fine. I like that it’s not bulky because I hardly notice it when I’m riding. The toe strap is really thin material but just molds around my toebox of the boot when I tighten it. The highback features a “nuback cushion” that molds around […]

Location: Timberline, Oregon Snow Conditions: Slushy, bumpy snow softer in spots with some hardpacked icy areas. Overcast skies to fog. Setup: I rode the Union Contact bindings on the Black Death Inc with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: Quicker than average Fit: I really had the time to get these dialed to my boots, making sure the fit was there and adjusted to me. Even with a men’s binding, I always worry the highback might be too much for my calf’s and boot fit…but the contacts were not an issue on sizing to a women’s boot in the M/L size. I also didn’t have any width problems, no gaps in the fit between the boot and bindings on the width factor. First Impression: It’s the brite light of bindings…so far so good. Yes it is extremely lightweight. Appearance: I got to try the bright orange contacts and at first I’m like dang…this is really bright. I actually grew to love the bright orange. To me the design of the contacts is sleek, there’s no special gimmicks or extra stuff to weigh you down…it’s a binding and the design is there with a nice color […]

Location: A-Basin, Colorado Snow Conditions: Bluebird with hard packed conditions Setup: I rode the K2 Virtues on the K2 Duchess with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: Really quick. JP gets it done. Fit: I was able to get my boot in the binding, but I definitely would have sized up on the binding since it was a little too snug in the width of the binding. I just adjusted the straps a bit better. First Impression: They are super neon…so they are super fun. Basically the Auto agogo bindings without the Auto. Appearance: The neon is pretty funny to look at when you first get on it. It screamed “killer 80’s brah!” at me and who can resist that? Comfort: This binding is all comfort whether its in the ankle strap, the highback or the base. The ankle strap has neoprene gel zones that mold the strap around your boot. Functionality: The ankle strap is set on the hinge mount so when you are not strapped in, it moves out of the way from the binding (you can see this in the photo where my boot is not in the binding). Easy to adjust […]

Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Cold with hardpacked groomers and some choppy terrain. Setup: I rode the Drake Muse bindings on the Drake Player snowboard with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: It was very cold, so it did take a while to set up the bindings with it freezing out. Fit: My foot fit fine with no gaps in space, the straps were adjusted to my boot but I didn’t feel that the bindings fit my boots as well as they would have if I had Northwave boots. I should have adjusted the toe strap to fit my boot better. First Impression: This is my first time riding Drake bindings, haven’t heard much about them…lets see how well they perform for the more higher end women’s binding. Appearance: Lets see honest…I hate gold. I have only liked one binding in a gold color and that was the ride sigma movement…because it gave you non-blingy, elegant gold. The Muse binding is the opposite of that, giving a bling, pure gold that just screams 80 year old in Florida with red lipstick wearing spandex…yes, that’s a good picture to paint. The highlight is it’s not much […]

Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Cold with hardpacked groomers and some choppy terrain. Setup: I rode the Salomon Absolute bindings on the Salomon Loft with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: Longer than average due to making the binding fit properly. Fit: It took about 3 tries to get the bindings to properly be fit to my boot and centered. Each time had to be taken off to fully adjust the binding. I still don’t think the toe strap fit my boot that well especially not looking at photos up close. First Impression: Please don’t have these ratchets stick like most Salomon ratchets stick. Ah not sticking…YES! Appearance: It’s white and cute. I like the ankle strap look but to me the toe strap just looks funny like a tube sock. Comfort: I found the ankle strap very comfortable once it was lined up to my boot. Molded to my boot and didn’t have any pressure points with my boots. The highback was softer, but very comfortable.
Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Cold, overcast with hard packed groomed runs. Setup: I rode the Flux Titans on the O-matic Celebrity with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: A little longer but I give credit when it’s freezing out having to turn screws without gloves. Fit: The Titans were very good fitting to my boot. Probably the best fit in terms of the cap strap fitting my boot toe box perfectly. The ankle strap was more bulky but still secure in fitting my boot, just had to tighten it harder. First Impression: I definitely notice weight when it comes to Flux bindings, they always weigh more than other bindings I’m used to. Even with weight, the Titans were plush in comfort. It’s like owning a waterbed…it’s a bitch to move, but damn nice to sleep in. Appearance: I have seen the Titans for 08-09 in the rainbow which looks amazing but I rode the Titans in the simple black and brown design.
