Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Bluebird sunny skies and hardpacked groomed runs. Setup: I rode the K2 Auto Agogo’s on the K2 Slayblade with my Bonfire Geo boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Little longer than average, to make sure the auto strap was adjusted properly. Props to K2 reps for making sure it is. Fit: No problems with the fit to my bonfire boots, in fact I thought the toe strap fit the best with my boots above all the other bindings for the demo’s and even better than in my Vans boots. The width was fine for boot and highback fit properly with my boot height as well. First Impression: It’s like putting your feet in a pillow while snowboarding except the pillow makes the ride better down the mountain. Appearance: I’ve noticed that the agogo’s tend to be the higher upscale look of women’s bindings, last year was pearls and this year was animal print…it’s definitely the cougar in training binding look. Despite the animal print, I actually like the purple/black combo they put together and if there’s one binding to make you pounce, it’s this one. Comfort: The agogo’s are all comfort from […]

Location: Loveland & Copper, Colorado Snow Conditions: Mixture of Conditions. Setup: I rode the Union Forces (size M/L) with the Capita Ultrafear FK and my Bonfire Geo Boots Time to set up the binding: Average Fit: My Bonfire Geo’s fit snugly into the heelcup and conform fine to the highback. I have a small bit of extra width between the bindings but it’s only with my Bonfire Geo boots (Vans boots fit fine in them). First Impression: I liked these bindings last year so when it came time to pick this years bindings, I upgraded from the Forces to the Force SL’s and no regrets on my decision. I got a lighter, stiffer, more responsive binding but I didn’t lose the amazing feeling of the Forces with the upgrade. Appearance: They are the white/red Force SL’s which someone told me reminded them of baseball and I like them, simple design and colors. Comfort: The Force SL’s continue with the padding that the regular Forces offer, padding on the highback and baseplate to absorb rougher terrain when you hit it and a sturdy padded ankle strap that doesn’t give me any pressure points when strapped in. Functionality: The Force SL this […]

Now that my site is a bit more organized with the reviews, I still felt I should bring back the review list but expand on it with a collection of overall & honest opinions so it’s easier to see the whole collection and get a feel for how I liked each one. This year I rode the least amount of bindings for early season demos because I was more focused on snowboards but come November I’ll be adding to this list with even more 09-10 bindings. This review will be updated throughout the season as I demo and test more 09/10 bindings. Each review is judged by the same standard and for the majority of reviews I used my own boots (some exceptions). [singlepic id=6451 w=400 h=300 float=] If you have a specific binding you would like to be reviewed please request it in the comment section. About me as a snowboarder: I’m coming up on my 16th season snowboarding. I am a freerider (I ride trees, powder, steeps, groomers, natural terrain) and I ride halfpipe. I now occasionally venture into the park, riding rails. I am 5’6″ and typically ride a 158cm for my all mountain board, my powder […]

Setup: I rode the Flow NXT-ATSE’s with the Flow Era and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Longer than average to make sure the bindings were adjusted to my boot and set up properly. With Flows you really need to dial them in or the ride won’t be the same. Fit: No gaps on the width of the binding and with Flows I feel comfortable riding the men’s binding in my size 8 women’s boots. My boot was snug in the heelcup without any movement and the highback was aligned with my boot height, no discomfort on the highback to boot fit. First Impression: The Special Edition NXT-ATSE’s might take over the regular edition. Appearance: There’s a lot going on with the NXT-ATSE’s in terms of colors and design. But I don’t think it looks bad, I liked the crazy print and design it has going with the mix of words across the binding. The chrome ratchets are pretty sweet as well and shine in the sunlight. Comfort: Flows are built around being comfortable without any pressure points thanks to […]

Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Overcast with hardpacked groomers to a mixture of conditions. Setup: I rode the Technine Nines with the O-matic sweet and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average set up time. Fit: Some space in the width of the bindings and the width of my boots that I noticed, heel was secure in the highback and straps were adjusted to fit the boots. First Impression: Super padded and comfortable with less response Appearance: They definitely stand out with the gold color that I was rocking. Definitely with the bulky straps you notice the lettering even more with the right binding saying TECH and the left binding saying NINE. I like the white colorway that the binding is offered in more than the gold. Comfort: These bindings are all comfort, a lot of padding in the straps to the baseplate. The ankle strap has the bulk of the padding and covers a lot of the boot. The straps definitely look huge in regards to the boots. Functionality: The nines feature tool-free quick adjust ladders making it easy to adjust the straps if you need to. I didn’t encounter any issues with […]

Setup: I rode the Raiden Eris’s with the Nitro Carrara and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average time, the only time I’ve noticed Raiden bindings being longer than average is if the baseplate is being a hassle to get it adjusted and moved to the right spot to screw in to the disc. Fit: Last year when I tried them, the fit was a off with them and my boot. This year it felt a lot more snug and good fitting to my boot. But also I’m rocking different boots since last time. First Impression: Comfortable, light, padding and no complaints. Appearance: Jungle theme meets animal kingdom. I’m not really big into the whole animal print look but that’s just me. Comfort: Airbag dampening was comfort under the feet, the straps are padded and offer good support as well as the highback, some padding there but the dampening under the feet made the binding a good improvement from last year’s on comfort.
Location: Steamboat, Colorado (and 1 run at Canyons, UT) Snow Conditions: Overcast with hardpacked groomers to new snow on runs Setup: I rode the GNU agro bindings with the Automaton Time Fighter and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: I borrowed these bindings so I set them up myself, at a demo it probably would take less time because the reps have done it a million times but when I was at home to play with all the parts and getting it dialed, it probably took between an hour and two hours and I was frustrated. Mostly because it was some small parts and having to play with the binding to have it fit my boot better especially where the heel wouldn’t be able to move upwards. To make it fit my boot, I needed to have the forward lean cranked more than I’d like. Fit: I can safely say that this binding is not meant for a size 8 women’s boot, definitely a men’s binding where it isn’t easy to size down to a women’s boot and when I had the ankle strap adjusted just fine, the toe strap wasn’t as fitting to […]

Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Overcast with hardpacked groomers to a mixture of conditions. Setup: I rode the Burton Molotov bindings with the Burton Hero and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average set up time for getting the bindings adjusted. Fit: After riding the Scribe EST, the molotov’s were easy to get dialed into my boot and no issues with them fitting. First Impression: Wider strap and winged highback, first time riding with wings and it’s different than red bull wings. Appearance: I rocked the black bindings which are very simple in design. The blue model I like better just because it’s bright and still looks good while being simple. Comfort: The ankle strap is money, super padded and molds well to the boot once adjusted. Comfort in the baseplate by the good amount of padding especially on the heels to absorb the conditions. Functionality: Very functional, easy to adjust and get dialed to your boot. I didn’t have any issues with the binding not being functional, other than only riding a Burton board because of ICS/EST. Everything else, canted highbacks and extra sensory were fine. Setup: I rode the Burton Scribe EST bindings with the Burton Malolo and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: The burton guys have picked up the pace with how used they are to EST, getting quicker each year with getting them set up. This year was about average set up time for most bindings. Fit: It took some adjustment of the straps to get them dialed but once they were, the fit into the heelcup with my rome vamps were fine and everything fit my feet good. First Impression: It makes sense…wider part of the strap where you put your downhill weight when riding, more material and support in that location. Appearance: The color I rocked didn’t appear like it was a women’s binding by the design, but there are different colors some more funky than the one I rode.
Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Overcast with hardpacked groomers to a mixture of conditions. Setup: I rode the Ride Bandita Contrabands with the Ride Crush and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: The contrabands are one of those bindings you need to adjust properly to your boot…if you don’t, it’ll be a sucky ride. Luckily for me, we adjusted them to my boot so it wasn’t sucky. Fit: My Rome vamps looked funny in them, they fit cause I didn’t move around but I see spaces where I’m not used to seeing them and that could be me not knowing the binding as well and what’s normal or just how it works. It seemed a bit wider than I needed for my boots, I bet I could have been a better fit in the smaller size. First Impression: I was really happy that Ride finally gave us women a contraband binding and bummed that it took a year.
