Location: Snoqualmie Summit, WA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to heavy leftover powder. Setup: I rode the Capita Indoor Survival FK with Union Force bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 156cm. First Impression: I forgot what NW concrete felt like but the Indoor didn’t. Weight: Average Flex: Overall a playful board with the reverse camber on the Indoor Survival but the longitudinal flex gives it stability and there’s a good amount of torsional give so you have quick response. It packs a powerful punch when you take it riding and delivers with a 5 on the Capita flex scale (which I completely agree on). It’s not as stiff as the BSOD and it’s not as soft as the horrorscope. The Indoor Survival FK features freestyle flat kick technology which is a level base from outside insert to outside insert then reverse camber from outside inserts to contact points then wah-pow on the nose/tail. Turning: I had forgotten how responsive this board is on edge and carving but quickly remembered with the conditions because in the heavy concrete snow, too much edge meant possibly eating shit. Luckily the FK is forgiving on the board or I would have gone […]

In the past 11 years of building, designing and devouring snowboards, Capita has created a brand that sticks out from the masses. They’ve updated their technology over the years but also know a good thing when they have it and continue offer the models that work. Their team riders have made names for themselves, winning awards and video parts on Capita boards. For 2012, Capita added a new board with the Totally Fkn’ Awesome which has freeride FK and Tj Scheider’s pro model the mid life zero becomes zero camber. They continue to build a mix of options from the traditional camber to the pow FK to freeride FK to zero camber to freestyle and urban FK. There are options for every rider in every price range. [singlepic id=10784 w=1000 h=667 float=] Capita Black Snowboard of Death It’s an any day, all-terrain, freestyle beast. It integrates camber where you need it for power and stability through variable terrain with reverse camber where you want it for control in powder conditions. Freeride FK, P2 superlight core, custom weave fiberglass configuration, 4x20mm basalt V Tech reinforcements, wax infused rotation sintered speed base, death grip, glow in the dark layered silkscreened topsheet, silkscreened […]

Size: 155cm. First Impression: The name of the totally fk’n awesome was definitely on point…it is a totally fk’n awesome ride down the mountain. Weight: Average Flex: Tad softer than the BSOD but with the same stiffer flex in the nose and tail with a softer torsional flex between the bindings. Overall it still has the same aggressive riding that the BSOD has and charges the mountain just as much. It features freeride FK which is camber between the outside inserts, reverse camber outside of the bindings and wah-pow on the nose and tail. Turning: This was the first board of the day so it got the hardpacked conditions on the mountain, it gripped the snow and held the best carves without hesitation. The turn initiation was quick edge response with a directional sidecut (up in the air whether it’s directional but I thought it rode different switch) that really delivers the three stages of a turn. Initiation was easy, into the carve was […]
