Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomed runs. Setup: I rode the Lib Tech TRS with my Union Team bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 157cm. First Impression: The TRS is that classic choice for riding everything, ripping up everything on the mountain. Weight: average Flex: It isn’t so stiff it falls into the hard charging category like the Dark Series and it isn’t so soft it falls into the Skate Banana category but hangs out smack in the middle of the flex scale. Tad stiffer in the nose and tail but softer torsionally which allows for it to handle freeriding but give it a quickness edge to edge for response. Lib Tech defines the flex as 5-7 depending on size which I’d agree on. The TRS has C2 technology which is banana rocker between the bindings and camber from the inserts to the contact points. Turning: Easy to engage into turns. That’s where the TRS might not sound like the name given to it, it’s a total ripper but it doesn’t mean you have to be on your game to ride it. The TRS still has an easy initiation into each turn and quick edge […]

In snowboarding, one company bleeds the yellow and that’s Lib Technologies based out of the northwest. In 2006, they introduced a banana to snowboarding and there’s no question to how much a banana has impacted the snowboards we ride today. Since then Lib Tech continues to do what they do best, create and redesign snowboards to be experimental but also ridden by a range of riders from the small to the big, from the mountain to the park. For 2012, Lib Tech continues to offer a range of styles for riders. The BTX has rocker between the feet blended with flat to mild camber to contact points. EC2 performs halfway between original banana tech and C2 with rocker between the feet blended with elliptical camber to contact points. C2 with rocker between the feet blended with radial camber to contact points. Enhanced Banana with the highest rocker between the feet with a secret numerical formula of camber to the contact points. C1 with rocker between your feet and flat to mild camber from the front foot to nose contact blended with camber from the back foot to the rear contact area. Tip to Tail Rocker is a powder only design […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Lib Tech Box Scratcher with Roxy Rock-it power bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 151cm. First Impression: This is the only smaller size board I’d want to ride all the time. Weight: Average Flex: The box scratcher has a softer nose and tail making it extremely fun to butter and press on the mountain with or float in the powder with. The stiffer flex is between the feet and under the feet giving you good edgehold and stability on the slopes. It’s an easy board to ride, not very difficult with the BTX on the board and makes it adaptable for park to powder. The box scratcher features BTX which is banana rocker between the inserts, flat from inserts out to contact points and features magne traction for edgehold. Turning: Relatively easy board to ride, engages the edge and the BTX makes it a bit more forgiving on the turns. Once on edge it held a turn and the MTX definitely gripped the snow. I rode the box scratcher first thing in the morning on some more hardpacked conditions and had no […]
