Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Mixture of hardpacked icy conditions to soft packed slushy conditions. Setup: I rode the Never Summer Premier F1 with my Union Team bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 159cm. First Impression: The Premier has always been that board for freeriders to the core. Weight: Average. Flex: The Premier F1 is on the stiffer side for flex and comparable to the Raptor in the line-up. It’s a tad softer on the nose, with a stiffer powerful tail that delivers up more response from the tail end of the board. Between the bindings there’s a softer torsional flex so it still delivers up response from edge to edge. It’s pretty good on the dampening, most stuff you throw its way it won’t let you get bumped around. The Premier F1 features RC technology which is reverse camber, rocker and camber, rocker between the feet and camber just outside of the bindings. Turning: There are many types of turns a board can make depending on the sidecut and effective edge. While the Raptor gives you quick aggressive turns that are less forgiving, the Premier F1 is the board that delivers a consistent carve with no surprises […]

First Impression: Continues to be the women’s SL – ride anything board Weight: average. Flex: The Never Summer Infinity is NS’s all mountain freestyle board for women and the flex matches that, it’s a medium flex board. Not soft, not stiff – just in the middle of the two. Torsional soft between the bindings which gives it a quick responsive flex and longitudinally stiffer from nose to tail. Stiffer nose that lets it charge and ride through choppy conditions and a softer tail that helps give it some freestyle fun. The Infinity features RC technology which is reverse camber, rocker and camber, rocker between the feet and camber just outside of the bindings. Turning: Whether you want short or long radius turns, the Infinity does both without issues. The softer torsional flex helps for responsive short radius turns and the longitudinal flex from nose to tail gives it the stability for long drawn out turns. Setup: I rode the Never Summer Lotus with my Union Team bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 157cm. First Impression: Rides like the same board as last year, dominant freeride board for women. Weight: average. Flex: The Lotus is the women’s freeride board in the Never Summer lineup, stiffer than the infinity with a whole lot more dampness in the board. It’s softer than the men’s version, the Premier F1. The softer nose gives it more float in powder and a stiffer tail for control on the mountain. The carbon gives most of the stiffer flex underfoot for a more stable ride and you have good torsional flex so turns aren’t as difficult to engage. The dampening in the board helps absorb any rough terrain on the mountain. Never Summer’s RC technology features rocker between the feet and camber outside the bindings. Turning: The Lotus delivers with quick response for the mountain. It’s easy to engage into turns and the flex delivers control and stability on the mountain. The sidecut allows for quick turns for […]

Since 1991, Never Summer has been building snowboards out of Colorado designed for quality and durability. They’ve built up a solid reputation and now with their RC Technology, continue to grow the brand into more than a popular company out of the Rockies. Their Rocker + Camber technology was introduced a couple years ago and is now present in every single snowboard in their line. For 2012, they give riders a splitboard option on the popular SL snowboard and introduce a new snowboard called the Proto CT/CTX that blends the SL/Evo into one board. More boards feature the carbonium topsheet which helps gives a more durable, scratch and chip resistant topsheet. They’ve added more softgoods and have a collab with Bern for Never Summer helmets. Never Summer Legacy A wider version of the SL, this deck dominates every part of the mountain from parks to pow to steeps. Features STS pretensioned fiberglass, BI-lite fiberglass, carbon VXR laminate technology, NS custom flightcore, RDS 2 damping system, sintered P-tex sidewall, durasurf sintered 4501 base, P-tex tip and tail protection, full wrap metal edge. Flex=5.5, Damp=5 Sizes: 156, 159, 161, 163, 166, 170, 174 [singlepic id=10709 w=700 h=1050 mode=watermark float=] Never Summer Infinity […]
