Every year there’s always one film that brings out the best riders and showcases snowboarding as it is, what it will become and who we are. Whether it’s the next big gap, a wave of powder or a new way to interpret a walkway, Absinthe has the lead in showing it all and with riders who have their own style and take on snowboarding. Absinthe’s “Nowhere” premiered in Seattle last night to a packed house of snowboarders (and skiers!) that was a must-event for the Seattle snowboard scene. [singlepic id=9983 w=500 h=281 float=] It’s been so much fun to be back in Seattle for premiere season, so many familiar faces that bring such a good vibe to the premieres. The northwest snowboard scene definitely supports the films and the riders who bring out some banger parts. Erik, Jason and I made it out early for the premiere and met up with a fun crew of people for the evening. Erik, myself and Jason with Jessica giving me bunny ears [singlepic id=9984 w=500 h=281 float=] Lee, Jessica and Kat [singlepic id=9982 w=500 h=281 float=] Plenty of cheers welcomed Justin Hostynek to the stage as he introduced Nowhere to the packed audience […]

In only a matter of months winter will return to the mountains and cover our favorite playgrounds with a blanket of white so that snowboarders can play once again. Until then we have some of the best filmers and riders out there bringing us snowboard films each season to keep us occupied until winter strikes. For the first time in years I’m back in my original stomping grounds of Washington state and will be here during premiere season. The northwest scene brings out some amazing riders from the woodwork and I’m looking forward to seeing these films with old friends. Most of these films are premiering around the United States, so click on the titles for their websites and tour dates.
A couple weeks ago I received an invite to come to a BBQ before the Absinthe premiere in Beaver Creek and since then I’ve been counting down the days till yesterday. I made the trek down to Vail/Beaver Creek to attend a YES BBQ at DCP’s house and check out the Absinthe Neverland premiere in Beaver Creek. It was great to carpool down with Philip from the Click and his friend Jerry. The BBQ had plenty of drinks, beer and food for everyone. There were a variety of local industry and shop people there to check out the YES line, talk snowboarding with DCP and the Absinthe crew. Huge thanks to Joe for inviting me and giving me the opportunity to talk with DCP, Dan Brisse and Justin Hostynek in such a chill environment. It was great to meet everyone and just talk snowboarding. [singlepic id=6377 w=400 h=267 float=] Two YES boards were on hand to check out, the green 154cm was the giveaway board at the premiere later that evening. [singlepic id=6378 w=300 h=450 float=] One of the highlights among many at the BBQ was meeting DCP’s wife, Megan Pischke Porcheron and discussing her venture the “Retreat Yourself” women’s […]

It’s that time of year when snowboard film teaser are coming out for the 09-10 season, getting you amped from a mini clip of what’s to come. The boys at Absinthe have been working hard on their new film, Neverland and it’s finally out with the teaser and full tour schedule so you can’t miss it. Neverland by Absinthe Films from Absinthe Films on Vimeo. From Absinthe Neverland is a state of mind, a mountain pushed up from the ground by imagination. Anyone can go but most people have trouble with the simple directions: Follow your dreams. This winter Absinthe dropped down the rabbit hole to explore this elusive place and brought back some mind bending tales and a pocketful of surprises. Travis Rice, Dan Brisse, Bode Merrill, Nicolas Müller, Sylvain Bourbousson, JP Solberg, Romain deMarchi, DCP, Marc Frank Montoya, Annie Boulanger, Marie-France Roy, Jules Reymond, Wille Yli-Luoma, Cale Zima, Phil Damianakes, Wolfgang Nyvelt, Kevin Pearce, Eero Ettala, Gigi Rüf and the rest of the Lost Boys continued down the road less traveled and explored some new possibilities during a winter that saw the progression of snowboarding take some giant strides. This place has everything….. come on, I show you. […]
