It didn’t look like the best day to be outside on the mountain but despite the weather, it was a day to enjoy skiing and snowboarding. A quick trip up to Main Lodge showed that many people decided to stay in and that the mountain was ours to enjoy. We ended up parking at The Village to prepare for the Pond Skim later in the day. It was snowing in The Village, a sign of the mountain’s conditions. I headed up to the slopes with my brother, Brett, for the day. We headed to chair #22 and #25 to see what conditions were like. It was a mix of new snow with some ice patches but the new snow was good to play in. [singlepic id=11421 w=500 h=334 float=] We ended up running into a couple familiar faces, Jon and Lisa, Ramsey and Becky from Windell’s and others. [singlepic id=11422 w=500 h=334 float=] Brett getting some air in Art Park [singlepic id=11423 w=500 h=334 float=] We ended up headed into Canyon Lodge for food and then made our way to the Pond Skim. It was set up beautifully except for the cold weather that forgot about Spring Fest at Mammoth.
You know your life is easy when the only decision you make in the morning is what mountain to snowboard at. I had made the decision to skip out on Steamboat’s closing day in order to ride Breckenridge for the BSG demo day but a couple factors were involved. [singlepic id=8725 w=400 h=300 float=] A couple factors helped make the decision: #1 I wanted to snowboard versus drink #2 I needed to try some late season demos for a couple of you guys (whoever asked for the TRS is the reason I woke up at 8am from my warm comfortable bed) #3 Steamboat was closing the lifts 2 hours early for closing day but Breck would be running normal life hours. All those factored in and made it easy to decide to skip closing day festivities in order to get my snowboard shred fix with demos. I didn’t regret the decision at all today, I woke up after 8am to hit the road and made the easy bluebird drive to Breckenridge 2 hours away where I texted my friends once I got into town. I made it to the demo tents by 10:30am and by 11am was getting on the […]
