Setup: I rode the Arbor Coda with my Burton Escapade bindings and Ride Cadence boots size 8. Size: 157cm. First Impression: The Coda continues to offer that all-mountain style of riding wherever you want to go. Weight: Average. Flex: The Coda is Arbor’s all-mountain riding snowboard with a medium flex and the mountain system to handle everything you want to ride. Overall it’s in the middle of the flex scale. The nose is a tad softer with a stiffer tail to allow for powering through turns. Torsionally it’s more responsive, quick edging and longitudinally it’s a bit stiffer to give you more power and stability on the mountain. The Coda features Arbor’s Mountain System Technology designed to ride the mountain with grip-tech, parabolic rocker, directional twin shaping, power ply topsheet, toro tips and rocker flex. The mountain system reverse camber which has parabolic rocker which has more rocker in the center of the board and decreases the rocker to the tip and tail of the board. Turning: This board offers up a solid all mountain ride. It’s torsional flex gives you quick edge to edge response on the […]

Arbor continues to build on their 17 year legacy by supporting the experience of the mountain with the most environmentally responsible, next-level product possible. Their System technology gives riders combinations from jib, park and mountain but they still offer camber for true mountain riders. Combined with their system, you get grip-tech for added contact points on the slopes. New this year are the mini models for youth and the Abacus splitboard for taking the mountain by storm. Their artwork is one of a kind and always appreciated. Rider Nick Visconti has a Arbor Draft pro model that is much deserved. The Cadence is back with Slyvia J artwork.
Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Mostly hardpacked conditions with some soft spots. Setup: I rode the Arbor Blacklist with my Union Team, Flux GU15 and GNU B-Famous bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 154cm. First Impression: Very fun and playful mid-wide park board without being a noodle Weight: Average. Flex: The Blacklist is on the softer side of the scale but not as soft as the Draft is in the Arbor line. The torsional flex feels softer and easier to maneuver thanks to the thinning core but it’s also softer on the nose/tail and offers some stability underfoot with a stiffer flex. Overall it’s soft but still rideable outside of the park if you prefer a easier more forgiving softer flexing board. The Blacklist features the Arbor Park System, a true parabolic rocker with the grip-tech sidecut. Turning: Despite the mid-wide width, the Blacklist was easy to engage and initiate into turns. I was most surprised by how it handled, short turns were easy on this board and you had pretty good response out of it. Definitely shorter radius turns were more comfortable on the board, long radius did fine. If the conditions were soft to hardpacked, the […]

Setup: I rode the Arbor Poparazzi with Union Atlas Team bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 152cm. First Impression: Camber isn’t dead – it feels too good to get back on it. Weight: Average Flex: On the softer side longitudinally with some stiffer flex underfoot so you still get good stability on the mountain. The softer flex is average to me, it’s not as soft as a rocker/reverse camber flex would be. It’s softer on the nose/tail, stiffer under the bindings and softer torsional between the bindings. Thanks to camber there’s good pop and snap to the board. The Poparazzi is a camber snowboard in the Arbor line-up. Turning: This board is easy to ride for camber. It has a blended tri-radial sidecut for tighter turning and stability. I found that no matter what type of turn it received, it handled it and adjusted accordingly. Although short turns were definitely fun to wiggle back and forth on. Overall the turning engagement was quick, easy and I didn’t encounter issues with the turning. Stable: There’s always a warm spot in my heart for camber. It’s […]

Of all the contests I’ve done on Shayboarder.com, the twitter giveaways have been a great way to get people in various cities to win a snowboard. Today was the 5th twitter givewaway from shayboarder.com, which took place in Los Angeles proper. I started posting clues at 12pm on twitter that would help people find my location. Whoever found me first got the 11-12 Arbor Formula snowboard! A huge thanks to Arbor Snowboards for putting up the 11-12 Arbor Formula for the giveaway! For the first time in the Twitter Giveaways, I picked a location and came up with the clues a week before the giveaway. I was really stoked on the spot and it ended up being a fun place to hang out for two hours while we tweeted out the clues. I had my friend Adina come along for moral support/snowboard bodyguard/backup phone/camera person and she did a great job for entertainment during the two hours. [singlepic id=12378 w=300 h=533 float=] I started tweeting out clues at 12pm (PST) in hopes that on a Saturday traffic wouldn’t be too bad and it was manageable to find me within a reasonable time. 1. You can find me east of I […]

Weight: Average Flex: Definitely the softest men’s board in the Arbor line, it’s overall a soft jib board. The nose and tail are softer making for easy presses and just under the bindings you have a stiffer flex to help absorb jump landings. Torsionally, softer flex for quick edge to edge turning. In one of the photos below, you can see the flex of the board during a turn. The draft features the jib system which has parabolic rocker which has more rocker in the center of the board and decreases the rocker to the tip and tail of the board. Turning: A very forgiving easy to ride board from Arbor. It holds an edge very good despite the softer flex and the grip tech does help in those cases. The tri-radial sidecut helps on both long or short radius turns, making both types easy. The longer turns you had to work harder to hold the board to remain stable. The Draft got some time […]
