Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Softpacked to hardpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Roxy Team bindings on the Lib Tech Trice with my Vans Aura size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: I rocked the Team bindings in the M/L bindings which fit my size 8 women’s boots just fine. First Impression: It takes a strong binding to go well with the Lib Tech Trice and Torah Bright’s binding is just that. Appearance: I tried the Roxy Team bindings in the Torah Bright design which is white with some gold marking on the binding. It’s pretty basic in design with subtle flashyness. Comfort: The Team bindings definitely offered up a padded and supportive ride for the mountain. It features high density real feel performance strap padding with minimalistic design, shock-absorbing full EVA footbed and dual density foam canted footbed. Very comfortable ride for the mountain and helps absorb the rough riding. Functionality: The Roxy Team bindings feature a RX-a super lightweight highback with an asymmetrical women’s specific design, heel pocket with friction grip hold, lateral adjust highbacks with tool free forward lean. Setup: I rode the Union Force Bindings on the Nitro Eero Ettala with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: I rocked the Forces in the M/L size which is what I’ve used in the past. They fit my size 8 women’s boots with some adjustments to the straps and heelcup. First Impression: I can always count on the Forces to be my go-to binding on the mountain. Gets the job done without the bells and whistles. Appearance: I tried the Forces in the bright pink colorway. I prefer the blue but the pink is really really bright, similar to the women’s Trilogy bindings this year but for the men to have the bright pink option. Comfort: The Forces continue to offer comfort on the mountain, good padding in the highback to baseplate. The straps are form fitting to the boot. Functionality: The Union Forces are known for workhouse dependability. They feature stage II base dupont zytel ST, multizone dupont ST highbacks with injected EVA bushings. Extruded anodized aluminum heelcups, quick adjust […]

Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up the bindings. I ended up using them on the Ride Buckwild and Lobster Freestyle Baord so it was an easy switch to set up both bindings. Fit: I’m not sure what size DMCC bindings I rode, either the small or mediums for my size 8 women’s boots but the fit was good. It wasn’t too large or too small. First Impression: Good powering and response through the binding. Definitely the stiffest Flux binding I’ve ridden to date. Appearance: I tried the Flux DMCC bindings in the deep purple colorway. Don’t let the name deceive you though, the binding is mostly black with some deep purple on the highback. Overall very sleek in the design elements to match the riding style. Comfort: Keeping in synch with the Flux tradition, the DMCC bindings followed through on overall comfort. Good shock absorption on the footbed and great padding on the ankle strap make for a good combination for the mountain. Functionality: The Flux DMCC […]

Location: Mission Ridge, WA Snow Conditions: Softpacked groomers to fresh snow on the mountain. Setup: I rode the Union Trilogy Bindings on the GNU B-Pro and Jones Mothership with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: The Union Trilogies were easy to set up and adjusted with the straps to be ready to go. Fit: I rocked the Trilogies in the medium sizing which were a good fit to my size 8 Vans boots. Only an adjustment to the straps was needed to make sure they were centered. First Impression: I can always count on this binding to ride with dominating women’s freeride boards and still hold its own. Appearance: I tried the Trilogies in the Magenta colorway which is bright. On the Jones mothership, the bindings really stood out and on the B-Pro, they were completely suited to the just as bright graphics. I personally loved the bright magenta even though I thought I wouldn’t. Comfort: The Trilogies have bulked up since I last rode them making them even more comfortable in the ankle strap department. Good padding in the baseplate and highback to help absorb some fun fast riding. Functionality: The Union Trilogy […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux GM30 Bindings on the Endeavor Diamond with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty normal time to set up the bindings. Fit: I tried the Flux GM30 bindings in the small size which fit my size 8 boots just fine. The straps were able to be adjusted properly and I didn’t have any slippage problems while riding. First Impression: Definitely a more suitable all-mountain binding from Flux for the female rider. Appearance: I rode the GM30 bindings in Metallic Black. Designed with flux bindings written all over, a little bit of bling on the straps and a basic black design that’s rocked out. Pretty snazzy bindings for the mountain. Comfort: Flux has always been a very comfortable binding choice and the GM30’s continued with the trend. Super padded straps, good padding on the footbed and ultra comfort for the ride down the mountain. Functionality: Built for all mountain riding, the Flux GM30 binding offers a vogue base with performance blend 30 and a new footbed. The highback is the chair highback with super tough nylon. The straps are F-tech […]

Time to set up the binding: This was an easy set up for my boots. Probably one of the easier bindings to get going and didn’t require much adjustment. Fit: I tried the Stiletto bindings in the larges which were a good fit for my boots. The straps are super padded and look big on my boots but offer a good amount of support. First Impression: The Stilettos are a really easy going binding, definitely a great progressive choice for women. Appearance: The Stilettos I tried were the Lime Drop colorchoice. They are really fun, bright and youthful looking with flowers and the mix of lime/yellow in the binding. Comfort: The Stilettos take on the comfort of the higher end Burton bindings to the max level. They are super comfortable, padded to the extreme and make you feel like you are attached to pillows. Functionality: The Burton Stilettos come with the 3D curved Lushstrap for the ankle strap and Prima Capstrap for the toe strap.
Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Scribes on the Burton Nug with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This was a pretty quick setup to get going thanks to the knowledgable demo guy. He grabbed the Nug, the Scribe bindings and set me up with the right stance, angles and fit the bindings to my boots. Fit: I tried the Scribes in the mediums which fits my boots but are snugger in the heel of the boot. The toe straps are a bit more bulky but fit over the toe of my boot fine. First Impression: The Scribes offer up a comfy all mountain ride with a wider ankle strap. Appearance: The Scribes I tried out came in the black colorway which are pretty simple for design. Most of the binding is black and says Scribe on the front of the binding. There’s very simple gold colorway on the Scribe text. Comfort: The Scribes are a super comfortable binding, good padding on the baseplate and highback. The asym superstrap ankle strap is very well padded, the primo capstrap offers a good padded toe capstrap that […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Bent Metal Mortal on the Arbor Coda with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Took a couple minutes to familiarize myself with the Bent Metal bindings, then it was just dialing in the bindings to the board and making sure the fit was correct to my boot. The ankle strap is easy adjustment on the mountain but the toe strap requires a tool. Fit: I received the Mortals in the S/M size. The heel of my Vans boots was snug into the binding heel but it fit and was snug. Everything else was easy to adjust and fit fine to my women’s boot. The highback wasn’t too high for my bindings. First Impression: Responsive for the mountain that helped save me from the madness on the slopes. Appearance: The Mortals I tried out were in the blue colorway with a mix of blue/green and bright fun mixed into it. Pretty basic design with the Bent Metal logo on it. Time to set up the binding: Pretty average time to set up the bindings. Adjusted the binding straps to fit my boots better but that didn’t take more than a couple minutes. Fit: I rode the women’s small GU15 bindings which fit women’s 7-9 size. My size 8 Vans boots were barely fitting in them, definitely snug in the heel of the binding but didn’t get stuck while riding or unstrapping each lift ride. First Impression: The GU15’s might be pretty in pink but they are soft and badass in the park. Appearance: I demoed the GU15’s in the pink polka dot color option. They are absolutely bright prink with black polka dots and a pink bow on the toe strap. The bindings also come in a black and violet color option for those not loving the pink color. I probably wouldn’t buy the pink because of my own personal preferences. Comfort: Flux has it dialed on comfortable bindings. Time to set up the binding: I set up the Sparks R&D Blaze bindings with the stainless steel pins for the voile touring brackets on the Venture splitboard. It took some adjustment to get the angles/width for the bindings on the splitboard and didn’t need to do anything to the straps to ride them with my boots. Overall time to set up didn’t take long and was easier than I expected. Fit: This is my first time trying the Sparks R&D bindings and I was happy to see the small size binding fit my boot just fine. It’s meant for a women’s size 8 and below but it felt very comfortable together with my boot. The width fit fine with my boot width, no gaps and no moving around in them. First Impression: The Blaze bindings are lightweight and a good freestyle backcountry binding. Appearance: Pretty minimal binding with a black design and slight design on the straps but barely noticeable. I liked the design but definitely a simple look […]
