Location: Keystone, CO Snow Conditions: Softpacked to hardpacked groomers to fresh snow on the mountain. Setup: I rode the Burton Escapade Bindings on every snowboard this season but mostly the NS Lotus/Thrive Renegade with my Ride Cadence boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up on the board. Fit: My size 8 boots fit in the large women’s bindings with good width, functionality and comfort. First Impression:Response combined with forgiveness and movement in the Escapades this year…perfect for riding all conditions, all the time. Appearance: I love blue so having the Burton Escapade’s in the blue colorway is exactly what I wanted. Very bright, fun with subtle designs to it. Comfort: The Escapades are all about comfort. Good padding in the baseplate cover to the highback and straps. No pressure points and it keeps my feet without pain on the mountain. Functionality: The Burton Escapades are compatible with my traditional 4×4 snowboards, I haven’t used the bindings on a Burton board yet and they are holding up just fine when switching from board to board on the traditional pattern with the right plate. The bindings feature the AutoCANT fullbed dual density EVA cushioning to […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Scribes on the Burton Nug with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This was a pretty quick setup to get going thanks to the knowledgable demo guy. He grabbed the Nug, the Scribe bindings and set me up with the right stance, angles and fit the bindings to my boots. Fit: I tried the Scribes in the mediums which fits my boots but are snugger in the heel of the boot. The toe straps are a bit more bulky but fit over the toe of my boot fine. First Impression: The Scribes offer up a comfy all mountain ride with a wider ankle strap. Appearance: The Scribes I tried out came in the black colorway which are pretty simple for design. Most of the binding is black and says Scribe on the front of the binding. There’s very simple gold colorway on the Scribe text. Comfort: The Scribes are a super comfortable binding, good padding on the baseplate and highback. The asym superstrap ankle strap is very well padded, the primo capstrap offers a good padded toe capstrap that […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Diode bindings on the Burton Feelgood Flying V with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This setup was average time to set up for the demo. Once we knew the size, it was easy to get it dialed and mounted to the aftermath with the EST/ICS system. Fit: My size 8 women’s boots worked fine in the small Diode bindings for fit. The straps worked with my boots and there was no extra width in the bindings. First Impression: Holy hell, these highbacks aren’t a joke. Appearance: I rode the re:flex Diode’s so they came in the blue/black color option. It’s mostly a black binding with some blue ratchets and a highback with blue on the outside and blue polka dots on the inside. It’s a pretty slick binding in the design. Comfort: The Diode’s in my opinion aren’t as padded or comfortable as the malavita’s. There is padding in the baseplate and the straps are padded but there is less padding in the highback and you feel very connected because of it. Functionality: The Burton Diode bindings feature a […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Escapades on the Burton Fortress with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This setup took the longest time because of the demo guy not knowing how to properly. Halfway through I noticed the bindings were set up on the board for a goofy rider (I’m regular) so I let him know but he didn’t change it, instead saying it would be fine if I rode the board that way. I let him finish, then walked over to the tool bench and changed out the bindings to be properly on the board as a regular rider. It took way more time because he wouldn’t change his work and fix it, rather than make sure a board went out right. Fit: I received the Escapades in the size large which fit really good with my boots, good room for adjustments and very comfortable. First Impression: The Escapades are always a favorite, consistently comfortable and responsive. Appearance: The Escapades I tried out were the reflex version with the Circus Party colorway. It’s a really fun perky design and mix of colors. I really […]

Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Lexa EST’s on the Burton Easy Living with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Took time tracking down the bindings at the burton demo but once we found them, the set up was quick and easy to the board. Fit: My boot can fit in both the medium and large women’s burton bindings but I prefer the large bindings for fit to my boots which feel more comfortable and still spot on for fit. First Impression: I’ve said a lot about the Lexa’s but they are the Burton women’s binding I would ride all the time and first impression is always like coming back to a binding that works, hands down, just works. Appearance: I ended up with the black Lexa EST’s at the on-snow demo but they also come in purple speck and white/black speck. I personally know the black is the safe bet, the popular color choice but I would have liked to try the purple specks because I just enjoy some good looking purple bindings every now and then. The lexa’s kept with the […]

Location: Mammoth, California Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Cobrashark bindings on the Burton Sherlock with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: The cobrasharks were the first binding of the day and quick to get set up. I almost didn’t go with them but was open to trying something new and glad I did. Fit: I got into the medium cobrashark bindings which fit my vans size 8’s fine. The binding to boot width was fine and comfortable with no extra gaps. The straps were adjusted to fit my boots and were fine with my boots. First Impression: A binding with the name cobrashark wins me over every time. Appearance: I think these are my favorite binding design from Burton with the appearance and graphics. The cobrasharks feature artwork from Jay Howell. It’s kind of eclectic with the red lumberjack pattern on the straps and then the highback and writing over the bindings but somehow the mesh of it all works for me. Comfort: Just like the men’s malavita bindings, a very cushy ankle strap with comfortable support on my boot. Good padding on the baseplate and highback that […]

Location: Mammoth, California Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Malavita bindings on the Burton Nug with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: It took longer than usual to get them set up which was weird since they should be quick but it was a busy demo day. But since it did take longer, they were adjusted properly. Fit: These were a medium and worked fine with my boots. No extra gaps in the width of the bindings and the straps were comfortable, definitely seemed bigger than the women’s versions but meant for bigger boots too. First Impression: A favorite choice from Burton with the wider ankle strap and amazing comfort on the mountain. Appearance: The malavita’s I rode featured the feats of strength design on them which I thought was hilarious. It kept the basic black/white colorway but with some funny designs on the binding. Mine had a girl in a swimsuit on the ankle strap and that’s all I remember. Definitely original to see that mix of color choice and graphic printed design. Comfort: Just like the women’s scribes, the malavita’s offered up a very cushy ankle strap […]

Setup: I rode the Burton Lexa bindings with a variety of Burton snowboards (Lipstick, Feelgood, Whammy Bar) with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time with the EST system and disc system. I rode both types of Lexa’s and neither were an issue for setting up/ease of use. Fit: The fit on the lexa’s is always fine, no gaps in the width of the binding and easy to adjust the toe and ankle strap to fit my boot. First Impression: The lexa’s are that solid binding I go to for demo days, they do the job and no matter what board I ride…they work for them. Appearance: The 10-11 Lexa line is simple in the design and colors but in good style. There are bright option colors but I ended up riding the white and black choices which suit my style more. Time to set up the binding: Average time with the EST system, didn’t have to wait long and the staff had no problem setting it up. Fit: The Lexas fit my boot just fine, at first I thought that toe strap wasn’t centered but that’s the design of it. First Impression: I can always rely on the lexa’s as the everything binding, good midway point for women riders. Appearance: The lexa’s are never really over the top in the design, simple and elegant with a friendly girly spark to it. I rode the white coral bindings and the color was just enough for me.
