Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Stilettos on the Burton Lipstick with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This was an easy set up for my boots. Probably one of the easier bindings to get going and didn’t require much adjustment. Fit: I tried the Stiletto bindings in the larges which were a good fit for my boots. The straps are super padded and look big on my boots but offer a good amount of support. First Impression: The Stilettos are a really easy going binding, definitely a great progressive choice for women. Appearance: The Stilettos I tried were the Lime Drop colorchoice. They are really fun, bright and youthful looking with flowers and the mix of lime/yellow in the binding. Comfort: The Stilettos take on the comfort of the higher end Burton bindings to the max level. They are super comfortable, padded to the extreme and make you feel like you are attached to pillows. Functionality: The Burton Stilettos come with the 3D curved Lushstrap for the ankle strap and Prima Capstrap for the toe strap. Both offer up good padding, EVA with the […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Diode bindings on the Burton Feelgood Flying V with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This setup was average time to set up for the demo. Once we knew the size, it was easy to get it dialed and mounted to the aftermath with the EST/ICS system. Fit: My size 8 women’s boots worked fine in the small Diode bindings for fit. The straps worked with my boots and there was no extra width in the bindings. First Impression: Holy hell, these highbacks aren’t a joke. Appearance: I rode the re:flex Diode’s so they came in the blue/black color option. It’s mostly a black binding with some blue ratchets and a highback with blue on the outside and blue polka dots on the inside. It’s a pretty slick binding in the design. Comfort: The Diode’s in my opinion aren’t as padded or comfortable as the malavita’s. There is padding in the baseplate and the straps are padded but there is less padding in the highback and you feel very connected because of it. Functionality: The Burton Diode bindings feature a […]

Setup: I rode the Burton Malavita Restricted bindings on the Burton Aftermath with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: This setup was average time to set up for the demo. Once we knew the size, it was easy to get it dialed and mounted to the aftermath with the EST/ICS system. Fit: I rode the Malavita Restricted bindings in the size small for my women’s size 8 boots. I could have ridden the mediums as well but the smalls fit my boot width better and the straps worked. First Impression: I can see why the Restricted Malavita’s are popular, wings with a solid binding. Appearance: The Restricted Malavita’s come in the blackness colorway. The normal malavita bindings has more color choices but the Restricted kept it simple with the blackness this year. It’s a plain black binding with only the Malavita wording on the binding. Comfort: The Malavita’s offer up good cushioning on the baseplate, highback and ankle strap. It’s a pretty padded binding overall. The padding helps for sure on the bumpy conditions and landings off jumps. Functionality: The Burton Restricted Malavita are similar […]

Burton Snowboards is the biggest name in snowboarding with a collection of snowboard gear that often outnumbers everyone else in the market. Their bindings and boots feature a variety of designs with support and responses depending how you like them. Each of these determine the relationship between the rider and the board in order to drive the board down the mountain. Burton bindings comes in three different mounting categories: EST, Re:Flex and Disc. EST works with only with the channel and features no baseplate so you have natural board flex, Re-Flex remains compatible with all mounting systems with a minimized, cored baseplate and disc is a consistent flex and feel through, compatible with all mounting systems for bomber strength. New for bindings is the heel hammock, a rubbery material for extra response and the hinge which allows the heelhoop and baseplate to move independently. In both women’s boots and bindings, they come in true fit which means every element was designed and engineered for the way women ride. Burton boots offer the total comfort construction in some models so right out of the box, they are instantly broken in and eliminates the break in period. The crossbone design balances free […]

Location: Mammoth, California Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Burton Cobrashark bindings on the Burton Sherlock with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: The cobrasharks were the first binding of the day and quick to get set up. I almost didn’t go with them but was open to trying something new and glad I did. Fit: I got into the medium cobrashark bindings which fit my vans size 8’s fine. The binding to boot width was fine and comfortable with no extra gaps. The straps were adjusted to fit my boots and were fine with my boots. First Impression: A binding with the name cobrashark wins me over every time. Appearance: I think these are my favorite binding design from Burton with the appearance and graphics. The cobrasharks feature artwork from Jay Howell. It’s kind of eclectic with the red lumberjack pattern on the straps and then the highback and writing over the bindings but somehow the mesh of it all works for me. Comfort: Just like the men’s malavita bindings, a very cushy ankle strap with comfortable support on my boot. Good padding on the baseplate and highback that […]

Setup: I rode the Burton Lexa bindings with a variety of Burton snowboards (Lipstick, Feelgood, Whammy Bar) with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time with the EST system and disc system. I rode both types of Lexa’s and neither were an issue for setting up/ease of use. Fit: The fit on the lexa’s is always fine, no gaps in the width of the binding and easy to adjust the toe and ankle strap to fit my boot. First Impression: The lexa’s are that solid binding I go to for demo days, they do the job and no matter what board I ride…they work for them. Appearance: The 10-11 Lexa line is simple in the design and colors but in good style. There are bright option colors but I ended up riding the white and black choices which suit my style more. Comfort: Always a super comfortable binding with the amount of padding and cushioning around your boot from the baseplate to the highback to the straps. Setup: I rode the Burton Lexa EST on the Burton Custom with my Bonfire Geo boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time with the EST system, didn’t have to wait long and the staff had no problem setting it up. Fit: The Lexas fit my boot just fine, at first I thought that toe strap wasn’t centered but that’s the design of it. First Impression: I can always rely on the lexa’s as the everything binding, good midway point for women riders. Appearance: The lexa’s are never really over the top in the design, simple and elegant with a friendly girly spark to it. I rode the white coral bindings and the color was just enough for me. Comfort: The lexa’s have been a comfortable binding each time I ride them. The ankle strap has really good padding and cushioning and the toe strap grips the boot just right when riding. I’ve never had a pressure point with the lexas. Functionality: The lexa EST’s work solely with the ICS snowboards allowing for unlimited stance options but since I rock +15, -15 that doesn’t matter […]

Setup: I rode the Burton Molotov bindings with the Burton Hero and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: Average set up time for getting the bindings adjusted. Fit: After riding the Scribe EST, the molotov’s were easy to get dialed into my boot and no issues with them fitting. First Impression: Wider strap and winged highback, first time riding with wings and it’s different than red bull wings. Appearance: I rocked the black bindings which are very simple in design. The blue model I like better just because it’s bright and still looks good while being simple. Comfort: The ankle strap is money, super padded and molds well to the boot once adjusted. Comfort in the baseplate by the good amount of padding especially on the heels to absorb the conditions. Functionality: Very functional, easy to adjust and get dialed to your boot. I didn’t have any issues with the binding not being functional, other than only riding a Burton board because of ICS/EST. Everything else, canted highbacks and extra sensory were fine. Setup: I rode the Burton Scribe EST bindings with the Burton Malolo and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: The burton guys have picked up the pace with how used they are to EST, getting quicker each year with getting them set up. This year was about average set up time for most bindings. Fit: It took some adjustment of the straps to get them dialed but once they were, the fit into the heelcup with my rome vamps were fine and everything fit my feet good. First Impression: It makes sense…wider part of the strap where you put your downhill weight when riding, more material and support in that location.
