2008-2009 Burton Love Location: Loveland, Colorado Snow Conditions: Snowing with hardpacked groomers to icy groomers to fresh snow on the runs. Setup: I rode the Burton Love with Burton Cartels and my Vans Omni Focus size 8. First Impression: This is the only board that has ever made me smirk just thinking about dirty looks on the mountain and destroying young eyes with board graphics.Size: 158cmWeight: average. Flex: Despite it being a park board, I found the flex good for everything on the mountain. Medium flex overall that held up when riding groomers and could still flex the nose and tail for playing with. It would have been fun to take it in the halfpipe and maybe next weekend if I can demo it for the halfpipe. Felt stiffer under the bindings with decent torsional give and take on it. Turning: It was quick and easy to turn with the deeper sidecut, I had no problems with quick response from toe edge to heel edge and could really just play with it on turns. It was fine on the icy spots holding an edge. Stable: It was the last run with some icy conditions in spots and barely anyone on […]

Thanks to the recent protests regarding the Burton Love snowboards, Sabre has released their own way of solving the issue by giving equal opportunity for the women. I know when I said put hot male models on the uninc, now I know that I should have been more specific. Please put hot male models that are well-kept up in their trimming appearance. “In what seems to be an amazing sequence of events only days after burton releases the controversial snow board line called “Love and Primo” graphics, Sabre unveils it’s “Dudes on the mountain” Snow board graphics. In what seems to be a manly attack of a niche market towards those lonely housewives and stay at home Dads with credit cards! Sabre’s boards will be seen riding hard all over the mountain this winter……” Thanks to Transworld Business for this gem of the week and Sabre for such a good laugh.

It’s pretty rare when I stick up for Burton Snowboards. But today is the day. At exactly noon today in Burlington, Vermont there is a Protest Rally in front of the Burton Factory over the “Love” and “Primo” snowboard graphics. The Burton Love features vintage Playboy models as the main graphic. The Burton Primo shows hand signals and cutting and mutilating. The peaceful protest merely asks that Burton stops marketing and selling these snowboards. Laurent Potdevin, CEO of Burton issued a reply stating: “As a result of the opinions of an isolated group of individuals, we want to clarify where Burton stands on our board graphic artwork. We respect everyone’s right to his or her own opinion, and we also respect the right to protest. That said, here is our position: Burton supports freedom of artistic expression. Board graphics are artwork, and art can be offensive to some and inspiring to others. Snowboarding is a sport and a lifestyle where boundaries are pushed in terms of artwork, similar to the world of music, video games and movies. From Lange ski boot ads since the 1970’s featuring barely clothed women, to the Burton Love series, winter sports have a long history […]
