Intended Purpose: The DC Amo Jacket is an insulated snowboard jacket with 5k/5k and critically taped seams. It’s a great option for drier snowboard climates while still protecting you from wind and snow conditions. Fit: The DC Amo comes in standard fit which I thought still offered a baggy loose fitting fit to the jacket. It was definitely a box fitting kind of shape but I liked that it fit my hips and curves. Appearance: I liked the three colorway option that DC continues to use in this collection with the green, blue and grey. I liked that it offered a bright colorway to match my 686 blue pants. My only gripe with the jacket was it was a popular choice for many riders and very visible on the mountain so I ended up riding it less times than my other choices and most often on powder/snowy days on the mountain. I mostly wore the jacket with my blue pants which were a good match but I also had no problems wearing it with black pants as well. Features: The Amo jacket is stacked with features so it makes a good bang for the buck jacket. It has 5k […]

Four years ago, DC introduced snowboards to their collection and they continue to step up the technology, design and materials that define their snowboards. Inspiration for this winter’s DC snowboard line comes directly from the snow team’s needs and DC’s history in skateboarding. For 2012, DC introduces the Ply snowboardsthat have a skate twin geometry, lock and load camber and flexalite construction. For camber/anti-camber options, the anti-camber (flat between your stance and curved from the snow outside the stance) ranges from -2mm to -6mm depending on the model and traditional camber is available on two models for those seeking stability and control. To help determine what board works better for riders, DC identifies the flex, maneuverability and camber on a scale. DC Devun The award winning Devun Pro series represents the pinnacle of DC’s snowboard line. It’s true twin tip shape with 2mm anti-camber makes it a fun and forgiving, yet stable and powerful board that can handle anything in it’s way. This years graphics are inspired by native Northwestart found near Devun’s home in the mountains of BC. This iconic art style translates to his graphic with real maple hardwood veneer, laser etching detail and laser of printing. Features […]

When it comes to designing snowboard boots, DC designers blend advancements in their snowboard boot technology with a skate inspired focus on styling. They understand a boots true performance can only be felt when you have a seamless fit from your foot in the liner and in in the liner in the shell which you can see in their Golden Last features like smaller overall foot prints, in-step reduction, toe box volume reduction, narrowed heel cup, anatomically correct, forward lean and defined J-bars. For the 2012 season, DC introduces two new closure systems (Constrictor Hybrid Closure System and Winch System) to hold feet firmly in place for better feel and performance. On the higher end models, Genuine leather has been used on Status, Ceptor SE and Super Park SE this season. Other features include Aerotech to keep the feet comfortable and fresh smelling all season. Designers have built in molded vents that release steam through openings in the liner and shell. An added bonus of that technology is the anti-microbial material that keeps boots from getting stinky.
Location: Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the DC Devun with Union Team bindings and Vans Veil Boots size 8. Size: 154cm. First Impression: You’d swear you are riding a camber board Weight: Lighter than average Flex: It goes without saying but if you’d seen Devun ride, you know this board is gonna be on the stiffer end for all mountain freestyle dominance. It’s a stiffer flex longitudinally that helps keep it stable on the mountain, torsionally in the medium range but still very quick edge to edge and a lighter snowboard. The devun has a camber core profile where they profiled the wood core with a camber shape outside of the bindings to give their anti-camber collection more pop and control. The anti-camber on the devun has a flat stable platform between the feet, and transitions into anti-camber outside the bindings. Turning: Quick response on the mountain despite the stiffer flex, it rallies on turns and carving. Surprisingly very quick on short turns, from edge to edge and still a lot of good stability on the longer turns. It’s a predictable ride but you can get aggressive on it, just carving up the slopes […]

DC continues to design their range of products based around performance, technical features and functionality. DC boots continue to take technology they use in their shoes and brings them to the snowboard side. The DC outerwear collection takes performance and functionality to the snow with their street inspired fabrics. Their snowboards are in their 3rd season and now offered a tightened line with a full range of boards for the mountain.Pro riders Devun Walsh, Aaron Bittner, Lauri Heiskari have their signature pro models for 10-11. New for 10-11 DC introduces their camber core profile where they profiled the wood core with a camber shape outside of the bindings to give their anti-camber collection more pop and control. The flat section in the center of the board provides a stable platform for riding fast and the camber core shape provides a geometry that gives the board added power, eliminating the wash-out feel from reverse camber.
