Currently I am: Wondering what I should type here. Shay: How has snowboarding changed your life? Sean: I’m not sure how it’s changed it, but I’m not sure how my life would be without it. Shay: How did you get your start in the industry, who or what opened up more opportunities for you? Sean: In the video and editing part… Jesse Burtner and Jason Borgstede gave me a big opportunity in the beginning by letting me help with JB Deuce, and after that, being heavily involved with Think Thank with Jesse and Christina Burtner. In the ‘Industry’ part of it… it was the opportunities that I didn’t get, that pushed the creation of an opportunity. Shay: How has your previous education or work experience helped you in your current job? Sean: Working labor jobs makes me appreciate my current ‘job’ and reminds me that people work very hard for their money, so I want to provide a product that is worthy of their hard earned dollar.
When it comes to rider driven brands that have created their own path in snowboarding, Dinosaurs Will Die is it. From the inner depths of Sean Genovese and Jeff Keenan, DWD has been around the block and continues to drive creativity from themeselves and the riders behind them. This is going to be a big year for DWD with the release of their team video featuring Genovese, Keenan, Larson, Hupp, Bogard and Brewster. All DWD snowboards feature sandwich construction, full wrap metal edges and stainless steel inserts. Two of the five boards for 2013 have been redesigned with upgrades. The boards range from traditional camber to reverse camber to flat camber depending on the model. Dinosaurs Will Die Maet The Maet is one of the two boards to get an overhaul this season. A softer flex, a little more in the waist and some WDT under the hood. This board is primed and ready for the mountain. Features camber, WDT core, extruded base, redesigned, twin tip, flex=3. Sizes: 152, 155, 158 Dinosaurs Will Die Rat We’ve mellowed out the reverse camber on this dirty rat to help you ride those bigger rails that demand more speed and stability.
Location: Heavenly, CA, Northstar, CA and Mammoth, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to soft conditions. Setup: I rode the DWD Genovese with Union Atlas Team bindings and Vans Ferra boots size 8. Size: 157cm. First Impression: Flat Camber makes this board really handle everything you throw at it. Weight: Average. Flex: Pretty consistent flex, it’s on the stiffer end for a park board which is why it handles the rest of the mountain so great. Overall I consider a good medium of the road board for flex, softer torsional flex to get quicker response out of and quite even flex longitudinally on the board. Presses/butters are capable but not as easy as a park or reverse camber board. The flat camber is pretty rad, has mellow camber so it’s not completely flat. Turning: Easy to engage on edge but definitely more aggressive when you start locking in each turn. Quick to turn, responsive and made for really fun short radius turns. On the longer turns, easier to draw out each S turn down the mountain. Super secure on edgehold, the flat camber really helps with that. Stable: This is where the Genovese excels the most. The flat camber really allows the […]
