When it comes time to snowboard in Steamboat Springs its an easy 5 minute walking commute to the mountain so needless to say when my mountain opens…I’m ecstatic! I love riding other mountains but it’s also fun to have a mountain outside your backdoor and you can always find friends on the mountain ready to shred together. Today was Opening Day here in Steamboat Springs, CO so my morning was spent working the festivities before I could hit the slopes. The snow coverage was great for Opening Day and it was great to see such an improvement for our terrain park on opening day. I met up with Philip and Gags for the 10am shredfest on the mountain [singlepic id=6879 w=400 h=300 float=] The conditions today were great in some places and the runs were awesome having a lot more to choose from than last year but it was also snowball death cookies in spots. Surprisingly I didn’t get much chatter through my board riding over them so I was stoked. [singlepic id=6873 w=400 h=300 float=] Our lower mountain terrain park had 12 features on opening day and I was able to hit 3 features with no problem. I’m […]

Finally my home mountain is open! It’s Scholarship Day for Steamboat, so season passes aren’t good till tomorrow but by purchasing a $20 lift ticket the money goes to Winter Sports Club.I caught a couple photos this morning but managed to take a ride break on my lunch to get out and enjoy the snow conditions. Jakub’s 180 It hasn’t snowed in Steamboat so it really is a lot of man-made snow to get the mountain up and running for opening day. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow, so hopefully Turky Day will be a great day! myself on Christie Peak Express…little bit of dirt still here So on the terrain park front of news….the terrain park will be better than last year! The mountain has been listening to riders and skiers this year on the terrain park. I am really happy with the changes I have been hearing about the terrain park this year. There is a mini-park set up on headwall So one of the steps this summer was getting a new logo for Steamboat’s terrain park. My buddy Steve at the sign shop helped create and design the logo. Rather than have rails with tons of various colors, […]

Today is Scholarship Day for Steamboat! Lift tickets today are $20 and the money goes towards Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. Starting tomorrow season passes are good for the season. For now here’s the Photo of the Day for Steamboat. Our new Christie lift is up and running! Even though I had to work today, I took a nice 2 hour lunch break to get out on the snow and ride. Since the gondola is getting new rope the only way up the mountain is the new Christie Chairlift. It’s a 6 person chair that takes roughly 4 minutes to get to the top with a mid-station where you can unload if you want the bunny hill. From there you take the cat track over to Thunderhead where there is more riding terrain. A look down after passing through the midway station. I was stoked to ride the new chairlift and to get on snow finally at Steamboat. The best part about living in a ski town…is you’ll always see people you know on the mountain. My first chairlift ride of the day I rode up with one of my roommates friends and by the time I made it to […]
