Location: Mission Ridge, WA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux DMCC Bindings on the Ride Buckwild with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set up the bindings. I ended up using them on the Ride Buckwild and Lobster Freestyle Baord so it was an easy switch to set up both bindings. Fit: I’m not sure what size DMCC bindings I rode, either the small or mediums for my size 8 women’s boots but the fit was good. It wasn’t too large or too small. First Impression: Good powering and response through the binding. Definitely the stiffest Flux binding I’ve ridden to date. Appearance: I tried the Flux DMCC bindings in the deep purple colorway. Don’t let the name deceive you though, the binding is mostly black with some deep purple on the highback. Overall very sleek in the design elements to match the riding style. Comfort: Keeping in synch with the Flux tradition, the DMCC bindings followed through on overall comfort. Good shock absorption on the footbed and great padding on the ankle strap make for a good combination for the mountain. Functionality: The Flux DMCC […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux GU15 on the Arbor Wasteland with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Pretty average time to set up the bindings. Adjusted the binding straps to fit my boots better but that didn’t take more than a couple minutes. Fit: I rode the women’s small GU15 bindings which fit women’s 7-9 size. My size 8 Vans boots were barely fitting in them, definitely snug in the heel of the binding but didn’t get stuck while riding or unstrapping each lift ride. First Impression: The GU15’s might be pretty in pink but they are soft and badass in the park. Appearance: I demoed the GU15’s in the pink polka dot color option. They are absolutely bright prink with black polka dots and a pink bow on the toe strap. The bindings also come in a black and violet color option for those not loving the pink color. I probably wouldn’t buy the pink because of my own personal preferences. Comfort: Flux has it dialed on comfortable bindings. The GU15’s deliver a very comfortable plush ride for the women wanting a softer […]

After 19 years of designing bindings, Flux continues to offer performance and durability from backcountry booters to urban rails. The bindings for next year have slimmed down the weight to be better than ever in a featherweight package with heavyweight performance. New for 2012 is the alpha baseplate which higher sidewalls that increase the bindings responsiveness and durability while its milled out design sheds serious weight. In the alpha highback they eliminated traditional forward lean adjustments and redesigned the composition to reduce the weight by 35% (to adjust the forward lean, you rely on a series of mounting options to provide the range of angles). Flux RK30 Whether killing kickers in the park or slaying handrails in front of City Hall, the RK30 is ready to terrorize your neighborhood. Genetic baseplate, performance blend 30, sky cushion, performance urethane highback, F-tech 3D fit strap, L-guide system, new FTM monocoque, low profile ratchet buckle. Sizes: S, M, L.
Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux RK30 bindings on the Bataleon Goliath with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Average time to set them up at the Bataleon tent on the goliath. Nothing major to adjust and quick overall to get them dialed. Fit: I rode the men’s medium size which fit my boots last time and worked fine this time. No gaps in the width of the binding and easy to adjust to my boots. First Impression: The RK30’s continue to be a good all mountain freestyle binding for response and comfort. Appearance: I ended up on the purple RK30’s which were a fun color binding but I definitely like the green and blue RK30’s as well. Fun colors that stood out on the mountain. The combo of the purple bindings with the goliath graphic was fun for sure. Comfort: Very comfortable with the straps on the RK30’s, the ankle strap was the same as last time which was good molding to my boot. The toe strap is new this time and I liked how it fit my boot, secure and didn’t […]

Location: Mammoth, California Snow Conditions: Mixture of hardpacked to soft packed groomers. Setup: I rode the Flux RK30 bindings on the DC PBJ with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: It was average time to set them up, actually really a bit quicker than usual. I didn’t have to take out a tool to adjust the straps to my boots using the tool-free adjustments on the toe and ankle strap. Fit: I took a chance on the sizing, guessing the men’s medium would fit my size 8 women’s boots but they did. No gaps in the width of the binding and overall felt comfortable with the sizing. It was easy to adjust the straps to fit my boots and be centered on my boots. First Impression: A good mix of response and comfort between them. Appearance: The Flux’s stood out from the pack of demo bindings at P3 shop in town and called my name with the bright blue color, not only that but they have bright neon green on them too. I like the fun bright colors and the Rk30’s definitely had the color combo going on.
Location: Keystone, Colorado Snow Conditions: Cold, overcast with hard packed groomed runs. Setup: I rode the Flux Titans on the O-matic Celebrity with my Vans Omni Focus boots. Time to set up the binding: A little longer but I give credit when it’s freezing out having to turn screws without gloves. Fit: The Titans were very good fitting to my boot. Probably the best fit in terms of the cap strap fitting my boot toe box perfectly. The ankle strap was more bulky but still secure in fitting my boot, just had to tighten it harder. First Impression: I definitely notice weight when it comes to Flux bindings, they always weigh more than other bindings I’m used to. Even with weight, the Titans were plush in comfort. It’s like owning a waterbed…it’s a bitch to move, but damn nice to sleep in. Appearance: I have seen the Titans for 08-09 in the rainbow which looks amazing but I rode the Titans in the simple black and brown design. I like the look of them, very simple with the Flux signature look to the binding. Comfort: The titans were amazingly comfortable, no pressure points and very secure with my boot.
