Location: Winter Park, CO Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to softpacked groomers. Setup: I rode the GNU B-Free bindings on the GNU Ladies Choice with my Vans Ferra Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Normal time to set up the bindings and adjust them to my boots. Fit: I tried the GNU B-Free bindings in the Medium/Large size which worked great for my size 8 women’s boots. First Impression: Super comfortable, easy to ride and good for all around riding. Appearance: They come in black and copper. I ended up trying the black version of the bindings which was fine by me, very simple in design and appearance with only the GNU and B-Free wording standing out in kind of 60’s hippie style. Comfort: Good padding on the baseplate to help absorb bumps and terrain while riding. The ankle strap was comfortable and the toe strap was basic, not much to it but gripping and molding to the boot design. Functionality: The GNU B-Free binding features an ultra light aluminum baseplate, full EVA footbed with base butter, micro buckle 2, single panel inverse seam ankle strap and a thin fit toe strap. The toe strap does a good job […]

Location: Mammoth Mountain, CA Snow Conditions: Hardpacked to icy groomers. Setup: I rode the GNU B-Famous on the Arbor Wasteland with my Vans Veil Boots size 8. Time to set up the binding: Mounted the bindings up, then grabbed my boots to make sure they fit in the bindings and adjusted the straps to work with my boots. It didn’t take longer than 10 minutes to get them set up and properly fit to my boots. Fit: I rode the medium B-Famous bindings which fit us women’s 7-9 sizes. I wore my size 8 Vans boots and had good fit in the mediums. The only pressure I noticed was on the front toe strap where my big toe encountered some pressure from the strap. It was only that one spot and barely noticeable. First Impression: The B-Famous makes all mountain riding quick and easy with rear entry. The backdoor aint bad for girls. Appearance: I demoed the GNU B-Famous in the black color option (the only color option). It’s a mix of black and dark blue animal stripes/print going on. I think it’s very simple and a safe bet without really any crazy design aesthetics. Comfort: Good padding in the […]

Easy in, easy out – that’s the motto behind GNU when it comes to developing snowboard bindings. Over the past couple years GNU has entered into the backdoor of binding design with bindings that are very simple and straightfoward. Make it easier to get into and get out of. All the dirty connotations set aside, GNU offers a range of bindings for a ability levels. All of GNU’s bindings offer a reclining highback design and some models feature auto open straps so that when you flip down the highback, the ankle strap magically opens making it easier to get out of. For dampening, GNU bindings has TPU shock pads, base buffer and a full EVA footbed to make the ride more enjoyable. GNU Choice High performance all mountain and park riding binding. The Choices’ features give you ergonomic support with asymmetric highback and strap components for increased power and control. Features FT-3 asymmetric highback with lateral adjust, micro adjust forward lean, asymmetric inverse seam construction ankle straps, premium denim and synthetic leather strap materials, triple dampening: full EVA footbed, TPU shock pads and base buffer. Flex-8. Sizes: M US 7-9, L US 9-11, XL US 12-14. Colors: Black, White [singlepic […]

Location: Steamboat, Colorado (and 1 run at Canyons, UT) Snow Conditions: Overcast with hardpacked groomers to new snow on runs Setup: I rode the GNU agro bindings with the Automaton Time Fighter and my Rome Vamp size 8 boots. Time to set up the binding: I borrowed these bindings so I set them up myself, at a demo it probably would take less time because the reps have done it a million times but when I was at home to play with all the parts and getting it dialed, it probably took between an hour and two hours and I was frustrated. Mostly because it was some small parts and having to play with the binding to have it fit my boot better especially where the heel wouldn’t be able to move upwards. To make it fit my boot, I needed to have the forward lean cranked more than I’d like. Fit: I can safely say that this binding is not meant for a size 8 women’s boot, definitely a men’s binding where it isn’t easy to size down to a women’s boot and when I had the ankle strap adjusted just fine, the toe strap wasn’t as fitting to […]
