Intended Purpose: Taking goggle interchangeability to the next level, the M1 goggle makes it easy to change out lenses thanks to magnetic lenses. Beyond the interchangeability quickness, the goggles feature an assortment of technology to help your snow vision on the mountain. Location: I’ve been riding these goggles most of the season here at Keystone Resort in Colorado. Conditions: The goggles have been ridden during the day and night at Keystone with a mix of conditions on the snow. From overcast to bluebird to snowing. I have two lenses with the goggles: Red Solex and Blue Lagoon. Color: I received the Anon M1 goggle in the Slate colorway. It’s a mix of grey and reddish-orange with the simple Anon logos on the strap. Overall it’s a pretty plain goggle in terms of colors, not my first choice I prefer something brighter. Lens: The Anon M1 goggle I have features the Red Solex and Blue Lagoon lenses. The Red Solex is what I would wear on bluebird days to block out the sunshine with the reflective lens. The Blue lagoon did a better job on the cloudy/overcast conditions so I’d switch it out on those days. Fit: For the most part, […]

Intended Purpose: Designed for smaller faces, the Smith I/OS is based off of the popular I/O model and features an easy interchangeable design so you can switch out lenses easily. Location: I’ve been riding these goggles most of the season here at Keystone Resort in Colorado. Conditions: The goggles have been ridden during the day and night at Keystone in a variety of conditions. Some powder days with cold snow weather and warmer days with bluebird skies. Since I have two lenses (red sensor and green sol-x mirror), I can switch out lenses quickly depending on the weather conditions. Red sensor for cloudy/overcast/snowy and sol x mirror for bluebird. Color: I received the I/OS in the white strobe colorway which is really bright, fun and outgoing. It works with both lenses I received and is just a fun bright goggle to rock on the mountain. Lens: The I/OS came with two lenses to help with interchangeability on the mountain. I have the red sensor and green sol-x mirror lenses. The green sol-x mirror is a favorite, blocks out the light with a mirrored lens and is totally badass in changing color/visibility. The red sensor does better for all around conditions […]

Intended Purpose: The Skylight offers up a wide peripheral vision on a signature Arnette design. It offers an oversized lens, low-pro frame design and semi-flush lens geometry for vision in all directions. Location: I wore these goggles at Keystone Resort in Colorado. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird days and snowy overcast snowy days on the mountain. Color: I received the Skylight in two color choices, the white frame and the watercolor/purple frame (my personal fav of the two). I really like the pattern on the watercolor, just more vibrant and fun for the mountain. Lens: I’m rocking the persimmon lens in the Skylight which is a really good all-around lens for the goggle. It can handle the cloudy, snowy conditions perfectly fine and still work for the sunny days. Fit: I was really surprised with the fit of the Arnette goggles. They actually fit my face even though they are a wider vision goggle. Helmet Compatibility: I’ve been rocking the skylights with my Bern helmet with the brim and it does fine for helmet fit. Very snug to the helmet line and doesn’t require the helmet to be pushed up high on my head. Pretty comfortable together and I usually […]

Intended Purpose: The Series 3 goggles deliver vision, comfort and goggle technology that makes your mountain experience better. Location: I wore these goggles at Stevens Pass, WA and Mt Bachelor during Superpark. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird days to overcast cloudy days on the mountain. Color: I received the Series 3 goggles in the powder blue colorway which are definitely powder blue but with the lens, they don’t feel like a color meant for babies. Lens: The lens I believe is the mercury chrome lens which does a good job of blocking out the light and keeping your eyes hidden on the mountain. As you can see in the pic below, it’s kind of warped in the reflection someone else sees but when I looked out, it was fine and not warped on vision. Definitely handled on the sunny days versus the overcast days. Fit: Arnette’s definitely offer a good fit to the face when it comes to perks. I liked how the triple layer foam really secured the gaps around the nose and eliminated any breeze when riding. Helmet Compatibility: The goggles worked just fine with my Smith and Bern helmets, didn’t encounter any bad gaps or fit issues […]

Intended Purpose: The Smith I/O packed in the performance but the Smith I/OX sets the standard with wider vision, interchangeability and performance in one goggle. Location: I wore the goggles at the Winter Park, Colorado on-snow. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird to overcast flat light on the mountain. Color: I tried the Smith I/OX goggle in the white colorway which is pretty basic looking. I really think the black catalog version is badass looking so the white was a little safe-going for my tastes but it was a good frame to demo. Lens: I believe I rode the Ignitor lenses but it’s hard to say since I didn’t take notes on the lens during the demo. In the photo I’m looking down instead of looking at the light. Either way, the lens did fine for the bright conditions of the demo. It was a sunny bluebird day with the occasional cloud cover. I found the lens was able to adjust to the snow conditions and see clearly throughout the riding. I didn’t have any weird blind spots on the mountain and didn’t find the sunshine too overbearing on visibility with the lens.
Intended Purpose: The Warlock goggles offer a wide vision in a simple, stylish package with proper venting for the mountain. Location: I wore the goggles earlier in the season at Mammoth Mountain, CA. Conditions: All the days I rode these goggles were sunny bluebird days on the mountain. Color: I rode the Warlock goggles in the gray colorway with the white Ashbury strap. It’s a simple design and I like that it goes with everything. Lens: I rode the silver mirror lens which is suitable for the bluebird sunny days on the mountain. It really does block out the light and it’s completely mirrored so you don’t see my eyes either. Fit: The Ashbury’s definitely offer a comfortable fit and mold well to my face. For the nose area, it has enough face foam to help eliminate a gap between my nose and the goggle. Helmet Compatibility: I tried the goggles with my Smith Allure helmet but it wasn’t the best fit. There was a gap on the top of the goggle to the helmet so I ended up spending more days riding the goggles with beanies only. Visibility: The peripheral vision on the Warlock is good, it’s wide enough […]

Intended Purpose: The Oakley Elevate goggle are designed with performance in mind for those needing a smaller face fit on a goggle. Location: I wore the goggles at the Mission Ridge on-snow in Washington. Conditions: It was the perfect conditions to really test goggles. The weather was changing during the day for a complete range of conditions. It would go from snowy to flat light to overcast to brief moments of clear weather. Color: I rode the Elevate goggles in the YSC Breast Cancer colorway option which is a mix of pink and white frame design. At first I didn’t really like it but I warmed up to it. Lens: I wish I knew the lens that I had on the Elevates during this day because they excelled for what I was riding in. I had really good visibility through the lens with the flat light, overcast, snowy conditions. I was more than happy with them. Fit: The Elevate goggles are designed to fit small to medium faces which they do but they are packaged on a frame that doesn’t look small. You still get good peripheral but with a frame that fits a smaller face. It’s a good combo. […]

Intended Purpose: The Voyageur is a new design for 2013 that delivers a rimless design with the quick step lens system built for maximum versatility on the mountain. Location: I wore the goggles at Stevens Pass, Alaska and Whistler/Blackcomb. They’ve been taken on a couple trips with me so far this year. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird to overcast light on the mountain. Color: I rode the Voyageur in the teal color choice which is a fun bright color. This is probably what I liked most about the goggle is the patterns and crazy brights without getting too out there. The teal around the frame is simple but then on the strap, you have a full range of patterns with colors from white, gray to black. Lens: I’ve been riding the Voyageur’s with the gold alchemy mirror lens. It’s good for keeping the sunshine out of your face but also can handle some cloudy/flat light conditions when they come out of nowhere. The UV protection on the lens helps with any glare and brightness on the mountain. Fit: This goggle fit around my face very snug but it wasn’t as secure around my nose as I’d like. Location: I wore the goggles at the Winter Park, Colorado on-snow. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird to overcast flat light on the mountain.
Intended Purpose: The Mercenary is Arnette’s ultimate goggle for style and performance technology to meet the demands on the mountain. Location: I wore the goggle at Mammoth and June in California and Park City in Utah. Conditions: Mix of sunny bluebird days to overcast cloudy days on the mountain. Color: I received the Mercenary goggles in a couple color options but ended up sticking with the midnight black frame choice for a simple black color don’t mess with me look. Lens: The Mercenary goggles I received came with the shadow chrome lens choice. Good choice of lens for somewhat cloudy/sunny days on the mountain, the lens block out some sunlight and help with seeing snow conditions. On really shady runs, I had some issues with seeing the varying snow. Fit: This is my first time trying the Arnette Mercenary goggles and they face foam helps keep it snug against my face and nose. There is some space at the very top of the goggle where air can get through but it’s minimal and I’ve only noticed it one time during a super windy day.
