It’s been two weeks since I traveled to the east coast for 48 hours with the Gore-Tex Experience More Blogger Summit and the opportunity to see inside the doors at Gore-Tex. Coming from a snowboard background, I was clearly in the snowboard bubble when I arrived and found myself learning just how much Gore is involved in many other aspects of intelligence around the world from military to biological to medical. I remember feeling overwhelmed the first night because of how much information I was taking in, that went above and beyond your typical mm/gm ratings of snowboard outerwear. However overwhelming the experience was, it was very educating and eye opening. Each day of the Blogger Summit we really went in-depth into Gore-Tex and Day 2 really opened my eyes on the snowboard side of Gore-Tex for waterproofing and breathability. [singlepic id=6742 w=500 h=375 float=] When I came back from the experience, I read an outsider’s point of view about the experience and how it offered a look into advertising entering the 21st century. Each of us were invited through their own research and when we talked about it, that they wanted to meet us. All the bloggers present were very […]

I arrived in Philadelphia for the Gore-Tex Experience More Blogger Summit where day 1 was the introduction but day 2 was where the tours went down and it gave a huge amount of insight into the Gore-Tex company and brand. Our itinerary on Thursday included touring the Gore Testing Facilities, Myth Busters Session, visit to the Gore Outdoor Store and a scavenger hunt in Philadelphia before ending the night with a dinner. The day started early with breakfast before we left our hotel room for the Testing Facilities in Elkton, Maryland and many of us were in 2+ hours of time differences so it was a sluggish morning but we made it. [singlepic id=6648 w=400 h=267 float=] Upon arriving at Gore-Tex we were introduced to Brad Hill who is Gore-Tex’s snowsports marketing strategist. I would later find out throughout the day that Gore isn’t your typical company when it comes to titles/jobs and management. Brad ran us through the Gore Products and I was able to understand the different products and what makes them different. Definitely an eye opening experience in the presentation and it gave us insight into what Gore strives for, creating long lasting durable products and with […]

Yesterday I left the snowy mountains and headed to the east coast as a guest for Gore-Tex’s Experience More Blogger Summit. What exactly is that? Well Gore-Tex is launching a new community and invited various bloggers from outdoor arenas to come out for a couple days to find out more about the brand and the community. So yesterday’s adventure started super early as I woke up at 4am in Steamboat and headed to the airport in town to make my 6am flight to Denver. Denver received quite a bit of snow yesterday so there was a delay in getting out to Philadelphia but eventually I made it out of the mountains. [singlepic id=6636 w=400 h=300 float=] Upon arrival in Philadelphia, I found myself with a group of other bloggers who were on my flight and we climbed into a shuttle van to make our way to the Gore-Tex facilities. Also from Steamboat is Chris who runs snowboarderguide.com, we had never met until this trip but know of the same people and live in the same town. [singlepic id=6637 w=400 h=300 float=] At the Gore-Tex Center, we were greeted with appetizers and drinks (Ah yes Yuengling!) and we started out tour, […]

In early September I received an invite from Gore Tex to attend their Experience More Blogger Summit that they would be hosting in late October and while it meant traveling two weeks in a row it also meant an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. The time has come and I am heading east for a short 48 hour visit to Philadelphia, Newark and Elkton to check out what Gore Tex is about. Our itinerary looks like a lot of fun and includes a tour of the Gore Testing Facilities with the Rain Room and Comfort Chamber plus an evening in Philadelphia for dinner among other activities. I’m especially looking forward to meeting the other bloggers attending the event. [singlepic id=6513 w=500 h=130 float=] This is the first trip that won’t cost me a dime: flight, lodging, food, everything is paid for and it gives me the chance to check out a company that many of us choose to be in our outerwear systems. When I do write about the experience I’ll make sure to disclose that information but I’m also attending on behalf of Shayboarder and looking forward to writing about the experience. Because it is such a short trip […]
